As most of you may know Jamie failed her hearing test at her school a week ago. The test showed she has almost no hearing in her left ear. We went to see the pedi today to see if this is something small like earwax buildup.
Well we now know there is no excess fluid behind her ears, no earwax buildup, no infection, and no deformities of the eardrum. We are no closer to finding what is wrong than when we found out. The pedi wants to put her on Clairtin for a month to rule out allergies and then recheck her in a month. She already hates the taste so it is going to be a battle for the next month.
They said her right ear was fine. She hears perfectly out of her right ear. The left ear she can't hear anything out of. I was thinking if it is allergies wouldn't it affect both ears? I know her left ear failed when she was screened as a newborn but passed a week later but she was also fussy. It is weird.
