A living will is one where you have your wishes written should anything happen to you and you can't answer for yourself--coma, vegetative state...so that if you don't want to be on life support, or if you want your organs donated.
A regular will is one about what should happen after you die.

Ahh, well I guess I should have both then. My SO knows my wishes, but since we are only common-law I don't know if he would have the authority to make those decisions over my family. (Not that they wouldn't listen to him, but you never know...)

We made our first will right after our oldest was born, and we updated it a few years later. Last year we made a whole new one and it covers everything.

We have a will, living will, and trust for both of us. I'm HUGE on planning and I wanted my son to go to my best friend so it was VERY important to me to have a guardian appointed, and nwo that we have a house I wanted a trust, and we did the living will with that too. So we are 100% squared away for both of us. We also have life insurance policies on hubby and myself as well as our son.
