I do believe in crib sleeping but when they are newborn i keep them with me. Dylan sleeps in a bassinet right beside my bed and every now and then in the bed with me. but i plan on moving him to his crib around 3 months old. i did the same with my daughter.
anyone else here cosleep at first. when did you move them to thier own room?
Vanessa was a combination of co-sleep/cradle sleep during her first 5 months. She would only breastfeed!!! We tried bottles galore but for hte first 6 months she was glued to me so alot of the time she slept right with me to make the nite feedings much easier.
Kaylee was a cradle sleeper until 4 months then she had no problem sleeping in her crib.
From day one - as much as possible- I had my girls nap in their cribs so it wasn't a scary thing for them.
For the first few weeks, I let my kids sleep in the bed with us while I was nursing. Then the lack of sleep caught up with me....I was so afraid that I was going to smother them that I wasn't sleeping well and it really took a toll on me. My oldest slept in the cradle beside my bed until he was about 3 months old and my two youngest were about 5 months...then I moved them to the crib in thier own room...
Loving wife to Chad and proud Mama to Cole (8), Aubrey (7) and Gracie (3)
Haley was in her crib from day one, but Tyler was much less co-operative, haha. For the first month or so he would only fall asleep in the swing, and then after the middle of the night feeding I'd bring him in bed with me. I had him in the crib somewhere around 6 weeks old, I think.
Marshall slept in his crib from day 1. We were very fortunate that it worked well for him. I read something when he was little about babies needing background noise to prevent SIDS, so I brought him into our room in his bassinette for 2 nights and he didn't sleep well at all, so I put him back in his room and turned on the humidifier to get a little bit of noise in there.
When my daughter was born, I did the co-sleep thing for the first few months. It made it way easier to breastfeed. Honestly, had it not been for my sister convincing me to move her to her own bed, I most likely would have kept her with me for a few more months - I breastfed longer than my sister did, so she just couldn't relate.
At about three months, my daughter moved to her crib in the corner of my bedroom. A few months after that, we moved to a bigger place so she could have her own room.
Kayla never slept with us until she was a little older and afraid or something, never just to sleep with us. I was DEAD SET AGAINST co-sleeping....HOWEVER, Emily is a little pistol and sleeps in bed with me, right beside me, or she doesn't sleep.
She'll go to her crib when she sleeps longer than an hour at a time. lol
