How long before Halloween do you buy pumpkins? How long before Halloween do you actually carve the pumpkins? Do you use a carving kit?

We usually buy it about a week before and carve it a few days before.

We carved with my parents last Saturday because my dad was supposed to have shoulder surgery on Wednesday, so it was the only time that he could do it and we'll probably carve with just Marshall, Justin and me this weekend.

I used a pattern and did a couple of bats with a bat cave, but I cut to far down on one of the cuts and one of the bats fell off, so it just looks like 2 small bats and 1 HUGE cave. I am so not good at it!

I'm bad at it too, I usually just clean them out and let Mark do the carving, haha.
Usually Haley draws the face for him to carve but this year they want to get a stencil and do something neat but I'm not sure what yet.

lol, I am not even good at cleaning them out. I always do it and then Justin does it some more when I am done, not sure if I am not doing a good job or if he is too picky.
