do you think a teen is old enough to babysit an infant or toddler?

Depending on the maturity of the child and how well I know and trust them, I would consider letting a 13 year old if she had taken a babysitting course and was trained in child and infant first aid.

In theory anyways, because I've never let anyone but the grandparents or Aunts babysit my kids.

It depends on the teenager. I babysat kids as young as 5 months old when I was 13 but that was a good 20 years ago!

I only use my family as babysitters when we need one. The girl that student teaches at our dance studio is 16 and my girls have known her forever now so I'd probably let her babysit if I absolutley needed it. She's very responsible....somewhat on the nerdy side...and very mature.

16 or so, but it really depends on how mature the teen is.

We only use family members also as babysitters, but our neighbor girl wants to babysit Marshall and I am afraid that something will go wrong. She is 17 years old.

Maybe I am being a bit weird about this and need to lighten up because our neighbor girl is a mature, reliable teenager.

BTW, your new siggy is adorable!

depends on the teen and depends on how many other kids are around.
I had been getting older babysitters (16,17) but my babysitter right now is 14, but she is very mature and really good. I mostly do try to have Julia in bed before we leave, and when we have to go somewhere early (and the kids need to be fed supper) we always ask one of their grandma's.

..... for me it'd depend on the individual really, but i can't imagine I would want to leave Gaby with anyone under the age of 16, or anyone who hadn't had previous experience with a child her age... I was babysitting babies at 14, but I didn't feel absolutely comfortable doing so (looking back)
