at about 7pm I got up out of bed to go to the bathroom...my underwear was wet...I thought that maybe I had peed a little...you know how being 9 months pregnant is...I changed my underwear and went to sleep on the sofa...I kept waking up with throbbing lower back pain... I woke up again around 9.10pm and my underwear was wet again... I changed them...I knew then, that today was the day...I didn't tell my dh the physical feelings I was having...I only told him that Ella would arrive soon...throughout the day I was having back pain and contractions...they were nothing major... at 9.30 in the morning, I was sitting on the sofa and I felt this sharp pain and a small gush of liquid came out...I said... honey...I think this is it...everything happened so fast after that...time just flew by...at 10.20am the contractions were 5-7 minutes apart...we called the midwife and she told us to come to the hospital...we gathered our stuff and DD...Dropped DD off at my sister Ali’s house at 11.00am...then headed to the hospital...we arrived there at 11.45am...road construction...bumpy ride...ouch!...by now, the contractions were pretty painful...they were exactly 5 minutes apart...our midwife met us and took us down to a empty room to be examined...she confirmed that my water had broken and that I was 5 1/2 to 6 centimetres dilated...we were admitted to the ABC unit at 12.35pm contractions continued to get closer together...at about 1.45pm, I told the nurse that I really wanted to push...before that I was having really painful contractions but all of a sudden I was having really intense pains with no reprieve between them...maybe 45 seconds if I was lucky...it was eerie how fast everything was happening...already 10 cm...after about 5 or 6 good pushes, at 2.45pm, Ella entered the world, 6lbs 7ozs and 19.5inchs...I don't remember if she cried...my dh got to cut the cord after Ella was laid on my chest...she never cried when she was cuddled up to me...she was all wrinkly and purple like a little old man!..it was such a wonderful and emotional experience... everything about it was so positive...
Eva she is so Beautiful!! Congratulations on having the labor you wanted. I think anyone who does labor without meds deserve a medal!!!

she seems so calm, very peaceful and that will be great if she stays that way for you guys! she really is a beautiful baby! Glad it went fast for you, hope I am as lucky!!
