So I finally am proud to say that I am a mommy to a beautiful little girl.
I went to the hospital on Sunday night at 8:00 pm. I was induced with this pill that they put on your cervix to soften it up around 9:00 pm. It started working right away and contractions came on slowly. It was around 12:00 a.m. when I then got the epidural because I was feeling the pain. I ended up having to go thru consistent, but not progressive contractions all night. My doctor got to the hospital at around 11:00 am the next morning and broke my water. I think I was only at a 4 cm by then and 70 percent effaced.
Well so then the contractions got a little stronger and moved along. It was around 12:30 when the doc came back to the hospital to check me and she just said lets go ahead and get this baby out. I was feeling the contractions at this point pretty bad, but they kept giving me more epidural doses that made my legs so numb. I couldn't feel myself pushing because I was numb, but she eventually was born at 1:18 on April 3rd. She weighed 7 pounds 14 oz. She had the cord around her neck when she came out, but the doc got that pulled off right away and she started crying. It was an amazing feeling to have her and hold her.
I can't explain how horrible the whole night was though. I had to lay in bed with the epidural and couldn't eat, or do anything. I was up all night while my mom and fiance slept. I just wish that I would have just got my water broke right after the epidural because that is what speeds things up. By the time Camryn was actually born, I was so sick because I had been pumped up with Epidural for 13 hours and didn't get to eat anything. I just wanted everyone to go away and leave me alone in a room with my baby. Which eventually happens.
All that matters in the end is that she is here and she is okay and I am okay. I just love my little baby girl and can't wait to see what happens next.
CONGRATS. i am still waiting for my stubborn baby to come...my due date is next tuesday......i know he'll be here soon. but not soon enough for me....BUT CONGRATS AGAIN.....
I'm so glad to hear that you and your daughter are doing great now. I'm sorry you had such a long labor. With my first, I had an epidural for about 5 hours and with Ryland I had an epidural for just over an hour. I can't imagine 13 hours of being totally numb like that. Not fun! But you have a precious little girl to show for all the hard work, and like you said, that's all that matters! Congratulations!!!!
