Alexis was very eager to come out.. I spent all day Sep. 23 with my dad because that is his birthday.. I had been having contractions all day but they were not steady in any way.. I would have them 5 minutes apart and then they would be 20 minutes.. Around 9pm I called my husband, who works at the hospital where I had my daughter, to let him know my parents were bringing me over.. I was over 30 minutes away..By the time I finally got to the hospital it was 10p.m. My husband stood around talking to his work buddies until after 11p.m. Finally we made our way to triage and got all checked in.. When they got me all hooked up I was definitely having contractions.. It was almost midnight before I was checked to see how far I was dilated.. There was a nurse that came in and checked and said I was 5-6 inches, as she was walking out the doctor was walking in the the resident to check me.. So basically I was checked my three people in less than 5 minutes.. When the residents checked me she said I was 7-8 inches and then the doctor checked to see is what the resident got was correct.. The doctor said I was 9 inches. So at Midnight they broke my water and I pushed for almost three hours.. Alexis arrived into the world at 2:43 am on September 24. She weight 6 lbs. 10 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches.. A very quick and medication free delivery..
