Well, she's here.... after a long journey...

We spent the weekend moving. We got the nursery set up and dd's room. We spent one night here (at the new home) The following day, we tried to get as much unpacked as possible. (we swore that would put me into labor) We went on a couple of runs for decorating the home.. (bed spreads etc.) We proceeded to go to bed (well dd and dh did) My stomache started cramping and I felt nauseated. I got sick every hour for 6 hours. Finally, I told dh we had to go in to get me some fluids. (I couldn't keep water down)

We went into L&D at 4am on April 25th. I got an IV with fluids and phenogren. (great stuff ) I finally got some rest, but not much. By the way, I threw up as she was putting my IV in.... not fun ! I woke up with horrible heartburn and asked for some medication for it.... I drank it (NASTY!) and of course, it came back up.

At about 7am, they warned me that the baby's heartrate was WAY TOO HIGH (198). So, after 2 hours of it going up.... my doctor came in and said he wanted to break my water and induce labor. He was worried about her, she was already in distress. So, they started the pitocin at 9am. By noon I was at 5 and got my epidural. IT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!! The first time it actually worked after 2 other labors. PRASIE GOD!

At about 2pm I was almost fully dialted but my doc was in the OR performing a surgery (removing tumors in a ladies utereus) So, they let me "labor down". I started to push around 3:20pm. My doctor came in around 3:40pm. She arrived at 4:03pm. She was 7lbs 6oz.... 17 3/4 inches long! She a little runt! She is absoultely beautiful.

I got 3 stitches!! YAY! After all, my last two I had so many he wouldn't tell me a number!

We were in the hospital for 2 nights. Iris had to stay 3 nights. They found a heart murmur. She has a small hole in the septum of her atria in her heart. We are going to see a cardiologist this week. And we are intesnsly praying for her.

We are home now... unpacking still. DD is handling things well.... somewhat. Things happened so fast. She's a little confused.

That is the interesting story of Iris Elizabeth's birth!

Aww...congratluations! If it makes you feel any better, my DH was born with the same heart problem....only he had the hole in a valve. At 5 he had surgery to repair it (sounds like your DDs isn't that bad though) and DH is a fully functional adult with absolutely no heart problems all his life since. He's even a Gulf War Vet.

Good luck in your new home and with your new little girl!

Wow it DID all happen so fast but at least she's home and doing alright. She's probably just in a state of shock, poor thing but she'll be ok. I hope everything goes well at the cardiologist's office. Let us know what happens. Good luck and congrats!
