I went in Friday July 28th at 6am for induction. I was 50% effaced and 3cm at this point. The pitocin was started at 6:45am. I made an estimate that I wanted to have him by 1pm. I told DB to just be back at 10am because I thought that would be when contractions might start to pick up.
Mild contractions started around 7:30am. The nurse informed me that I could get an epidural at anytime because their new policy is 3 cm not 6 cm!!! So, I was very relieved but figured I had hours to go. By 8:30am, contractions were every 5-6 mins and pretty mild. They continued to up the dose of pitocin every hour. By 9:30, I was dialated 6cm and decided I was ready for epidural. The room next door the lady was getting hers too so the anes. was just going to start mine too. He arrived in my room at 10:30am and I was having heavy contractions. I still thought it would be awhile so I said yes I still wanted it. While I was leaning forward for the needle to be inserted, I felt strong push urges. He was somehow able to get things taken care of quickly and the nurses called the dr in before they would let me lay down. Jonah had already crowned! DB came in at that moment, took 1 look and headed out to waiting room. lol! I was in no pain and pushing started immediately! I pushed a couple of times then the nurses came running in from next door that SHE was having her baby and there was a problem. My dr asked me to wait for just a second, he ran next door then MY baby's heartrate slowed down!! The nurse ran back to the other room and grabbed him.(That mom had just delivered at 10:55am!) My dr came back and saw the cord was around Jonah's neck so he used the vacuum and Jonah arrived at 10:58am. He weighed 5 lbs 13 oz, 20 inches long. He is just so adorable and we are both doing very well. Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes!
