I went into the doctor and he checked me and I was still 3cm and he said I could get the induction for Wednsday morning at 6am. So I went home and when Billy got home we went to my moms for dinner. I started contracting around 6pm Tuesday night and they were getting worse and worse so we went to the hospital. We got to the hospital around 10 pm and they said my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart and that I was definatly in labor. I was in alot of pain and I was still dialated to 3 so I asked for some pain meds in my IV and they gave me some. They didnt really make the pain go away they just made me tired and they slowed my contractions. My contractions slowed to exactly 5 minutes apart. Billy fell asleep and so I slept inbetween contractions. Exactly every 5 minutes I woke up and had another one. It wasnt hard to fall back to sleep though, I was already exhausted! At 5am I finally was dialated to 4cm and by 6am I was dialated to 5cm. The contractions were so bad and they were just putting in some pitocin to speed up my labor so I asked for my epidural. Oh boy Im glad I did because that pitocin really sped things up and I was in so much pain waiting on the anestisiologist to get there. The epidural wasnt so bad, the contractions were a helluva lot worse. I didnt realise the epidural took so long to put in. She said sometimes it takes up to 45 minutes but luckily mine only took about 10 minutes. They stayed in the room to make sure it worked and it did. I was completely numb and it was nice! I didnt like the naseau feeling I had from it but the pain was gone so I was happy. Then the doctor came in and broke my water. After that I dont remember too much, I fell asleep for a while. The nurse kept coming in to check me. I went from 6-8 in one hour and then from 8-9 in another hour and then to 10 in about another hour so I moved pretty quick. They got me ready to start pushing. That was the hardest part!!! They kept telling me to push harder but I was pushing as hard as I could and I felt like I was going to pass out. They brought a mirror in so I could see what was going on and I saw his head coming out a little. Then the doctor got there and he cut me and had me push and out popped the baby! His head was pretty bruised up and coneheaded from me trying so hard to get him out. The doctor called him conehead LOL. He weighed in at 5 pounds 13 ounces and is 19 inches long. Born at 12:35 pm after 18 hours of labor. 45 minutes of pushing which they were really surprised about, they said that it was really fast for a first baby. They checked him over and stitched me up and then someone came in and stuck him to take some blood. Then 20 minutes later someone else came in and did it again because the first lady messed up so that made me kinda mad cuz he was crying over it and it must have hurt. The I got to hold him and try to feed him which he didnt do too well with. Then lots of family came by and they moved me to the recovery room. The rest of the first day I just held him and kept trying to feed him and just spent time with him. He didnt leave my room the whole day. I slept for a little while that night but he was kinda fussy. I had the nursery take him for a little while because I was so exhausted. In the morning I had the lactation lady come in to help me with breastfeeding and she noticed his right ear was smaller than the other. The she noticed that he had no ear hole. When he was first born they told me he had a skin tag by his ear, it was barely noticeable and that he would have to get a second hearing test done in 3 months just to make sure it wasnt anything serious. They never said anything about him not having an ear hole. Out of all the nurses and doctors that looked at him, including his PEDIATRICIAN, no one noticed that he didnt have an ear hole! When the nurse saw that she called the doctor and told him and when he came in he looked at it and said he must have missed it because there was a shadow and it looked like there was a hole. Whatever! Oh well, Im just glad the nurse caught it. The doctor pretty much just said that since he passed his hearing test in that ear that we should just wait until he is a little older and take him to a specialist. Mmmkay then. At least he isnt deaf, Im really happy about that! They wanted me to stay another day but I didnt want to so we went home at about 5pm on Thursday. Hes doing real good now and everyone is so in love with him! Im a bit sore and its hard to walk. I was surprised at how much it hurts afterward. I think this is worse than the labor itself!!
