When I woke up the night of the 8th i thought that it was false alarm again at first, but the contrcations got closer and more intense but I could still talk through them. So, that was about 3am and I waited until 7am and called my friend up since I didnt plan on having my husband there. She panicked and said we need to go to the hospital right away ( its a 40 min. drive). I told her to calm down and that it feels very similar to the way my labor with Jonas started out, so I wasn't too concerned to have my baby any time soon.
Well, we left around 8:30 and even stopped at Hardee's to get breakfast (for her not me.lol). We got to the hospital around 9:15, I was admitted to a room immediately and when they checked me I was about 4-5 cm dialated, dont ask me the effacement, i dont remember. I guess I should have written this right away.lol
Anyhow, they chekced baby's heartrate periodically and I refused to have an IV , so they didn't.
Around noon my water broke and they contractions picked up intensely. I was rocking abck and forth and biting my friends hand.lol. CAlled DH around 12:30pm and left a message to call this cell phone back. I was having major contractions around 2 and was still only 8cm dialated..of course pain medication was a nono at this point even if I had wanted it..it was too late. Around 2:30 I was 9cm and the nurse helped out by pulling the cervix out of the way a bit. That helped but was painful...another 5 minutes and I was complete and was READY to push. I screamed at the resident to let me finally push. He finally gave his okay but told me to push only for 4 seconds and then stop to get the rest of the cervix out of the way. That was soooo horrible...we all know how hard the urge is to push, but to stop pushing in the middle of pushing is about teh worst thing someone can ask a woman in end stage labor. Anyhow, so another 15 min. later and about 4 sets of 3 pushes (each 10 sec long), Sofia arrived. Her shoulders got stuck a little but everything else was fine. I did not tear (hence the fact that I looked the resident straight in the eye and told him with a firm voice to make sure that I won't tear this time.LOL). He did good.haha. The delivery of the placenta took quite a while..about 30 min..longer then I remembered with Jonas.
Sofia latched on right away and did good with breastfeeding from the beginning. She was a little heavier than all of us thought (8lbs, 12 ozs and 21 1/4 inches long) so I was pretty proud of myself to have given birth without any intervention what so ever.
My DH came to see her about 30 min after she was born and it was good this way!
She is healthy and we went home (on my request) 24 hours later. I honestly could not wait any lobger for her big brother to meet her!
He was soo overwhelmed when we brought her home!!! But he loves her now and I am veryu happy with my two babies!!!
