This is one of the happiest times in my life!
My midwife called me around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2nd, and told me that I was scheduled to go in the hospital to be induced at midnight that night! My due date wasn't until the 10th so I was a big shocked but very excited. I called my fiance at work and asked him to come home early so we could put a final touch on everything to get it ready for out baby. He came home and it seemed like forever until we finally left to go to the hospital. We got there, I signed in and all and was taken straight back to what was going to be my delivery room. My neice, mom, step-father, and of course my fiance were with me. They all stayed overnight with me, thank goodness I had a HUGE delivery room, because the hospital I delivered at was a little over an hour away and it takes a lot of gas. I wasn't induced until 7 in the morning on Feb. 3rd. My contractions started to get really heavy around 9 a.m. and I refused to have an epidural just yet because I wanted to try it natural. Around 11 a.m. I took the epidural and was very disapointed that I had done so. Anyway, it didn't take me long to completely dialate after that and I started pushing at 2:15 p.m. After Morgan's head came out the doctor asked me to barely push and I did so without question because I thought this was normal and then I looked in the mirror, that I didn't want but now glad I had it, and saw that the cord was around his neck. I didn't worry about it then though because he was almost out and I didn't think it could hurt him. The doctor unwrapped the cord and had me push a little more. When his shoulders and arms came out the dr. held him up a little and told me to get him. I was hesitant but FINALLY took my baby and pulled him the rest of the way out. I cried harder than I have ever cried before right after that. It was the most special, amazing, thing I had ever done and was so glad I did it. It's so wonderful. Houston helped whipe Morgan off and they took him to weigh him. It was so special and I love the doctor because he thought of the best way for the parents to get involved. Morgan was born at 4:01 p.m. and weighed 7lbs 6 oz. and was 19 3/4 in. long. There was not a thing wrong with him and the only thing that has ever been wrong with him is he got croop the beginning of this month due to electric heat and no humidifier. But there's our story. Hope you enjoyed!
