I originally posted this in the c-section board but I spend more time here usually so I thought I'd put it here too.
My due date was Oct 14, 2006. I was really hoping my son would be born on Oct 12 cuz it was my grandpa's birthday but no such luck. I started getting contractions on the 7th halfway through the Nebraska football game. Of course we had to stay home for that! I didn't want to go to the hospital yet so we went to bed about 11 and I couldn't sleep through the contractions. So I got up and watched CSI Miami. Around midnight my contractions were about 5 mins apart and very strong so I called my doc. He said to come in.
When we got to the hospital my contractions slowed down but not for long. I wanted to go as long as I could without meds so I fought the contractions all night. My hubby was very helpful in trying to keep my mind off of the pain. We watched Pulp Fiction at 3 that morning. Good movie to watch while you're in labor. At about noon the next day the pain was too much for me so I got an epi. It was wonderful. Around 1:30 I was dilated to 8 but my son was breech. I asked if there was anyway to turn him around and the doc said no. He said I was third in line that day to get a c-section. Then 5 mins later he came back in and said I was first. I was really scared but it went so smoothly. My only problem was that I couldn't stop shaking. Our hospital here doesn't have VBAC so next time I have a baby it'll be a c-section, which is cool with me. I'm not big on pain anyway and I can deal with being sore afterwards.
Keith was born at 2:13 that afternoon and was 6 lbs, 15 oz, and 19 inches long. Blonde hair, blue eyes and perfect.
Nice story. My mom had wanted me to have my daughter on Oct 5 since it was her mother's birthday. Of course, things don't always work out like you want them to. It's nice to keep those special to us in our thoughts, though.
