I should probably wait till later in the month to post this after more ladies join, but I couldn't wait!

I'm wondering if there's anyone here like me. We've been trying to conceive for 19 months! Had one brief pg a year ago that ended at 2 months. So, looks like I can only get pregnant once a year, in April specifically! I'm a very young 40 year old, and this little one will be our first child.

I see that many (most?) of you already have 2-4 kids! I can't even relate to that!

Congrats!! I'm keeping everything crossed for you!!

I'm nearly 34 and this is my first. Not that old by a lot of standards, but i think judging by all the ages of mommies here i'm a little bit older!

Oh my gosh! I'm the matriarch here I think, haha! What's really crazy, is if I had a child in my late teens, I could be a grandmother by now! Say what?!

Well, at 40, my looks and body haven't really aged past late-20s/early 30s, but my eggs are definitely acting their age! We were at the crossroads of deciding to try IVF or to just give up altogether. The reproductive specialist told me that I have only a 2-3% chance of getting pregnant unmedicated. The VERY next cycle I got pregnant - unmedicated! I LOVE it!

I'm not religious whatsoever, but I wonder if God is giving me a nudge and a wink! <3

By my area's standards, I was OLD to be starting at 28! I just turned 35, and at the ER last night, they threw around "AMA". *sigh* Hehehehehe They almost treated me like a 60-year-old grandmother having a baby. "You're HOW old?" HAHAHAHAHAHA But my SIL and MIL both had babies at 41, and no one blinked an eye. I don't think that they were even considered AMA!

iamkc - that is too funny!! 28! ha! I remember the first time I saw the term "Geriatric mother" (for anyone pregnant over 35 or something), I didn't know whether to fall out of my chair laughing, or be really offended, or just let my head explode! lol!

I think older (geriatric! right!) first time mommery is going to become more and more common, especially among the career/professional set. And consequently, they are going to have a lower birth rate! Oh, I really wish I could afford to be a stay-at-home mom! Can I live in the 1950s for just a week, please?

But in the '50s, we'd be the dinosaurs of mothers!

It's WAY more common for women to have children later. There's even a movement down here for doctors to do away with the AMA label. The last thing that a pregnant woman wants to hear is that she's old (on top of fat, bloated, tired-looking, and waddly)! Hehehehe

for me having kids earlier in life just did not make sense. And after my first husband and i divorced i would have been stuck as a single mother plus trying to juggle my career. No, having my first at 34 may not be ideal, but i'm happy with how my life worked out!

DH is 42, but we are both super young. I think it all depends on how you feel, not the number!!

We tried for 18 months for this one. 1 year of that time was filled with RE visits and lots of meds for fertility treatments.

Hi. I'm stefanie and also 40 but on pregnancy #8, baby #7 if this is a sticky bean! I never had a problem conceiving and with the recent loss, my age was thrown in my face many times. I was told how hard it could be although my last two were when I was 38 and 39.... Then boom, we get pregnant again... No interventions or even "trying" just not preventing! I will deliver at 41 most likely. My birthday is January 15. So we "grandmas" can commiserate about our old bodies during pregnancy! Looking forward to it all!
