I thought it would be fun to start a thread like this....because there are soo many different things people tell newly prego women that pretty much scares the crap out of them.....(don't judge others if you wouldn't do it...its no biggie...just something fun)
I told everyone at my last job I was pregnant and the same day I came up from the cafe' with a hotdog...it was juicy and mmmm....this lady stood up in front of everyone and told me how I was irresponsible because I should learn the foods I can/cannot eat when prego....and hotdogs was on the do not eat list. Umm...I had a hot dog every week that I worked there and smiled at her.
They told me not to eat deli meat, but I did it anyway...through four term pregnancies.
they told me not to reach over my head or I would strangle my baby, but I did it anyway (yes, my former mil still believes this one...)
they told me a drop of alcohol would give my baby fetal alcohol syndrome...I drank a beer on more than one occasion to stop early ctx with cervical change in two pregnancies, and my babies were full term and fine.
there are probably a ton more, but that's off the top of my head.

I had wine and beer at the end of my pregnancy with my first to ease contractions.
I ate deli meat. And it was delicious. And it helped me keep from starving.
I had bleu cheese dressing with my wings every time I had them. I had lots of soft cheese. Also delicious.
I had hot dogs with lots of sauerkraut. OMG The deliciousness made me want to weep.
I had a few bites of my husband's sushi (which I normally HATE) a few times.
We lived in an area with lots of hot springs. I went in them all through my first pregnancy to ease a lot of the pain and sciatica. It was heavenly.
Um, I raised my hands over my head a lot. Hahahaha
I slept on my back until it got uncomfortable. I also slept on my right side. A lot.
I drank soda. It was that, or nothing. It was also diet soda.
I know that there are many, many more "horrifying" things that I did.
here's my list:
deli meat-everyday for lunch
drank soda- lots of it-helped with the nausea
raised my arms above my head
lifting heavy things- in my line of work it's impossible not to
I painted my daughter's room while 8 months pregnant
sleeping on my back and right side-I hate sleeping on my left side
I ate raw sushi once. It hit the spot. And this time around I intend to eat it if I want it. In moderation of course. Even when I'm not pregnant, I try to limit myself to 1x a month for my wallets sake
I drank starbucks latte (caffeinated) nearly everyday. I worked full-time til the very end and I needed it to get through the day. I'll drink coffee this pregnancy, but not nearly as much. Now that I'm a SAHM I've weaned my starbucks habit.
I ate deli meat. I'm not usually much of a sandwich eater, but last time around I craved a turkey sandwich with shredded lettuce.
