I just got my bloodwork back from Monday's appointment. Everything was fine except my thyroid levels, which are elevated. I'm going to have to start on Synthroid immediately and get my blood drawn every month Can anyone who's had this calm me down a little, my stupid hormones are making me freak out about this...

Im on levothyroxine (generic synthroid) for hypothyroidism. I started having problems with my thyroid levels after my son was born. To control it I take 50mcg once a day. I have no side effects from the medication and it hasnt affected my pregnancy at all. I just need to have my thyroid levels checked more often throughout and after pregnancy now. Really taking the medication has made me feel SO MUCH better!! I was so sick before they diagnosed me and my levels were so high that I started having heart complications. I was worried about my thyroid issues and the medication when I first found out I was pregnant but there is nothing to worry about! You will feel better after your thyroid levels even out and the dr will monitor your levels throughout pregnancy to make sure they stay in normal range. It is a really common condition in pregnancy and postpartum so try not to worry (easier said than done) and dont google!

I don't have personal experience with this, but I've heard it is fairly common, and easy to control with the right meds. My mom has taken synthroid for years (obviously she is not pregnant), and has had no side effects. Hope the same for you!

I was diagnosed with Graves Disease which is hyperthyroid. I had the Radioactive Iodine treatment and have went to hypothyroid which is easier to manage with medicine. I just went to my Endo doctor and he told me to have my OB check my levels at the end of the second trimester when my levels would change most. Well, my wonderful OB is gonna check my levels every 4 weeks. I take 100 mcg of levothyroxine a day. She said during pregnancy your levels will change and may need to add a dose or two a week. Hope this helps you.

I am not on meds for it b/c my dr said to wait for the next blood test to compare results....but my thyroid level was high as well. My dr said it was pretty common and nothing a little meds can help. No stress! Stress is worse than high thyroid levels

I too have issues with thyroid. I take 88mcg for it. My Dr is also checking me often to make sure it is ok through out the pregnancy. I was told to specially watch it after baby is born. I just had mine checked last week and it was ok. Nothing to stress about.

Thanks so much for all the reassuring responses! Unfortunately, I did google, and I regret that. stupid google.

I was also able to talk to a friend of mine who is on meds after having her thyroid removed due to cancer and it helped me a lot too. As long as I can find a way to NOT forget to take the pill, I think I'll be fine and I'm happy that they found it and that the exhaustion I'm feeling now will be getting better.
