I love M Night Shyamalan's movies and one of my favorites is "Lady in the Water". I haven't watched it in awhile so I watched it last night (If you have never seen it watch it, it's good). The main characters name is Story and I have never heard of that name before. If you watch the movie it makes you fall in love with the name. I asked DH and he liked it too. Do you think it would be a name that a kid would get tortured over? What the heck would I give her as a middle name (assuming the baby is a girl)?

We considered Story if both our kids had been girls. I love the name, of course. In the town where DS1 was born, there are a few kids named Story (it's a place name there), and no one thinks twice about it.

We hadn't really decided. DS1 is Kannon Wilde, and we had liked Story Wilde. We also liked it with a bunch of other names we'd picked out for girls. We haven't even discussed names for this one yet. It wouldn't matter; we'd still be stuck on a name the day we're leaving the hospital with the baby. Hahahahahaha

LOL I get that. My DH is pretty hands off with the name game so I usually try to have a name ready when we find out what this baby is which will prob be at my next appt in 3 Weeks yikes!! I am pretty good about picking names early and sticking to them. Thankfully.. I love your DS name! It is adorable.

HEHEHEHEHEHEHE That would be awesome.

And thank you! I like his name, too. If we have a boy this time, we're screwed. We had lists and lists of girls' names, but very few boys' names that we liked!

I am soo bad with names. I have only named one thing is my life that I can remember (all my pets came with names already when I adopted them lol) except for one cat....I named him Kitty lol I am going to be so lost!!! My mom makes fun of me and asked if Im going to name peanut "Baby" lol

Story is a cool name...and from what I can remember the movie was good too! At least he/she will have a unique story when explaining where their name came from!

That is cute naming your cat kitty. Thankfully names just pop in my head and stick. If we have a boy the name is set so the girls name is the only one I am thinking about. I loved the movie. It makes me bawl every time I watch it..

LOL We named our cat "Gato". It's Spanish for 'cat'!! We decided that if *IF* we ever had a dog it's be named "Perro". Our kids are bi-racial ~ Puerto Rican & Anglo Saxon but my husband refuses to speak Spanish to them so I do what I can with Dora, and whatever else. So Gato it was!

If you are into "How I Met Your Mother" you could do what they did as a middle name! Story -Waitforit - "last name" !

LOL Sephia!!

I've met someone with the name Story. I forgot what her middle name was but nobody ever thought it was odd...then again I grew up in Michigan...now if someone here in Kentucky named their child Story people would probably giggle or be quite confused. I, personally, kind of like the name.

I like it too. I am just anxious to know the gender period. It is driving me nuts. I have no clue what this baby is I have no intuition this time. My kids always say she which is funny. We are only a state away from each other. I haven't seen anyone in the DDC from Indiana.

Sephia- You should try to coax your DH to us his spanish. I wish I knew a foreign language.

I think Story is very pretty. And these days I feel as if unusual names are more the norm. Or at least people are trying to be different: someone recently told me: No matter how original you think you're being, by the time your kid goes to school, he/she'll have three friends with the same name.

For cat names, in my father's family, their cats were: Cat and Fat Stuff. They were real originals.

You are right! My son's name is Jaden and he has three Jaden's in his class. I want something that you don't hear very often for this next baby

Yeah, here in Alabama, Story would have been laughed at, but in Montana, it wouldn't have been a big deal. In Wyoming (where we're moving), it wouldn't be a big deal. DH was giving me names still on his girl list last night. Story is still on it. Hahahahaha BUT we have no boy names. Seriously. Not even one.

Oh, when we lived in Montana, we lived under the Bridger mountain range. There were SO many kids named Bridger. Take that name elsewhere, and people think that it's VERY strange.

I love names. Love. I think that it's going to be so much fun to see what we all name our babies!

Yes, it will be neat to see all the baby names. My Mom suggested Rainn for the middle name since my DH and I are big office fans (Rainn Wilson is Dwight on the show in case people don't watch it). I love it. If we have a boy his name will be River. Not sure of a middle name yet. I love names too and hearing new ones you don't hear very often

Honestly, I think the child would be tormented. My husband and I are up against the same challenges. My husband has a very ethnic name and spent his childhood being ridiculed over it. Now that he is an adult, the challenges aren't behind him; he still receives letters in the mail addressing him as MISS. or MS., it is a constant source of frustration for him. As a result, we are really being careful to make sure the name is not something the child will be tormented over or grow up hating us for naming it that. Worst decision ever is trying to name this little blessing that is on the way.

I think it's a nice name! Just don't make the middle name "book" or something that would, albeit cute, set them up for teasing later! I read somewhere once that when you are thinking of baby names, think ahead to whether it will work in the "playroom" all the way to the "board room"!

Lol I don't think I would do that to my kids. The nice thing is the girl in the movie was an adult and I loved it just as much. Good advice..
