Yesterday I did something so benign, I never expected the result. I merely rolled over in bed and suddenly I was overcome with the most intense, excruciating pain along the right side of my abdomen. The pain extended from about kidney height to my pubic bone. It was so intense, it took my breath away. The excruciating pain lasted for about 3 minutes and then eased up. This morning when I woke up, I was tender but the worst of the pain was behind me. Since I felt the pain was behind me, I went to the store, as I stepped out of the vehicle I was hit with yet another sharp pain (this time in the crease between my leg and pubic bone). I immediately drew my leg closer to my abdomen and the pain subsided. As I walked through the store, the area was tender but not painful. When I was standing in the freezer section of the store, the abdominal pain returned and hurt so bad I had to sit down.
I am now worried that I have either pulled or torn a muscle or ligament. This pain is horrible and it isn't constant. I am not worried about my appendix, as it has already been removed many years ago. I'm not spotting or anything to indicate a problem with the baby, the pain appears to me to be muscular in nature. If I press down on the area I don't have any major discomfort, it only seems to appear if I am up and mobile. What on earth do you think I have done????
I put a call into my OB/GYN's office and I am hoping to get a quick appointment before the holiday, wish me luck!!!!
I hope you are able to speak to or see your Dr for some peace if mind. Hopefully you just slept on it wrong and it's muscular- especially with all the "stretching" going on in that area already, it seems to make sense.
I had something similar happen to me a few weekends ago. We were at a dinner/comedy show and all of the sudden I had this sharp sudden pain in the side of my abdomen- It made me say out loud, "Oww!" and I looked at the ppl across from me because it really felt like the corner edge of the table was pushed into my side. I quickly realized it was muscular and probably had to do with the strange angle I had my body turned at to face the stage. I could feel it for a few days, although the actual "pain" lasted only a few seconds rather than minutes. I hope you get it figured out soon and that it's nothing to be worried about!
I hope you're able to get some answers. It does sound more like a muscle/ligament then an organ or something of the sort. I know sometimes if I turn a certain way in bed I'll get a sharp pain through my stomach like that but it usually only last a few seconds.
Keep us posted!

I hope you get your answers, but sounds like a muscle or something....which is normal during pregnancy. I have been having lots of aches and pains (nothing like you described) lately. I get so worried too...it is hard carrying a little one (hugs)
Hope you get some answers soon! I get LOTS of random pains, but nothing quite as bad as what you are describing (actually I just had a pretty crappy pain when I sneeze lol). It makes me wonder if they are strong round ligament pains? Keep us posted!
I had this once or twice during the night when I rolled over oddly from my back to my side. Felt like I ripped my side open. But, I think it was due to my enlarged ovaries. I hope you are able to get in to see your doc soon!
I have this pregnant and not pregnant. No one has ever given me a satisfactory explanation, but it doesn't seem to be particularly harmful, just painful. I was stretching to turn off a light yesterday and was dropped to my knees from the pain. I cried, which is very unusual for me and pain. It's still hurting today. I'm so sorry. It makes you a little afraid to move much at all, doesn't it? Move slowly, trying not to turn at the waist too much. Stand up slowly, too. You can sometimes feel the pain beginning, but if you wait and move with a purpose, you can avoid the worst of it!
I get this often when rolling over in bed. It doesn't last very long, but can happen on either side of my abdomen. It used to be way low and now is a tad higher (i'm guessing it's because the ligaments have lngthened.) I have no other symptoms with it, and I keep forgetting to bring it up to my doc. I do remember though, when I was pregnant with DD, I would get "stabbing vagina pains" and the doc explained that the ligaments go all the way from the top of the uterus and attach way down by the vagina.
Hope you get some relief soon. I know how breath-taking those pains can be!
Unfortunately, due to the holiday, my doctor is out of the office until next week. It does sound as if you're all experiencing (or experienced) something similar to what I am describing. I couldn't find any information online to assist me in ascertaining if this qualified as an 'emergency' or just 'one of those things'. I have already had ligament issues, but it was on the left side (low near the pubic bone). That pain was horrid and did also keep me from being able to move, this just took up a wider area and felt equally as horrific. Long story short, it felt like someone was taking a muscle and just pulling it just for fun. That pain was so severe I couldn't stand it, you know when things like that happen they always feel as if they last an eternity. Today has been actually good, I have been very tender in that area but no more severe pain! Yay!!!
UPDATE:Was able to see my OB/GYN's Associate Today!
My husband called first thing this morning and the Associate had an opening for one appointment, I was able to get in to see her.
The doctor stated the pain I was experiencing was Round Ligament Pain. The pain can be VERY severe, but it isn't harmful to the baby. She also did an ultrasound to be sure everything looked good, it did. Not only did my husband and I get to see our little one, we also got to see we are going to have one very feisty child. As the doctor was pressing down on my stomach, the baby initially began to move its hands up to its face. When she pressed a little harder, the baby threw its arm up (looked like it was pushing back) and began stomping its feet! The doctor laughed and said, "look at that!" My husband and I both laughed at this little one trying to fight against this 'thing' that was invading its space. We have an updated picture from the ultrasound (which is now the profile image) and a funny story to tell our friends and loved ones about our little fighter. Long story short...everything is going as it should be and we are both VERY happy!
I wanted to update everyone who responded and let you all know what the doctor had to say. Best wishes to everyone!!!!!
I have pelvic floor dysfunction ( the over tightened muscle type). In fact my muscles have shortened. I go to a PT to help. I have these pains a lot but I am 10 weeks pregnant this week and last week I noticed it a lot more. It felt like my trigger points were being pressed more frequently as my uterus and everything moves around. It feels like I am getting a PT session. It isn't just one muscle it is multiple including the piriformis and the levator. My OB is also my doctor for this condition my interstitial cystitis and my vulvadynia.
