hello all! i'm isabella. i'm about 17 weeks and due on January 13th with my first. (: I'm new here, so don't be scared to tell me if I'm doing something wrong haha. I'm going to do a little venting if you don't mind..
I want my bump. Lately, I've had people telling me, "you're not showing at all!" I don't know why, but I find it rude. I feel it. I see how big I'm getting.. so it's like have I always looked this way & I didn't see it?! Yesterday I had a few friends haven't seen for a while tell me I wasn't showing then proceeded to poke my belly & go "well, it's hard.." I made the joke about having 6 pack abs, but deep down it kind of hurt. I also had an older friend of mine and my aunt come along and tell me the same thing. Is anyone else having this problem?
I go in for my 2nd check up today, so hopefully it will help when he tells me I'm measuring bigger than last month. /:
If this is you 1st you're not going to look very pregnant for some time yet. This is my 4th and I have people tell me how small I look. I take it as a compliment. In time you will have that bump and will be complaining because you can't tie your own shoes.
Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to the board!
HUG, 17 weeks for a first time mommy is still that funny period when you could or couldn't be really showing. I wouldn't let it get to you too much because before too long you will have a great bump that you can show to people and add a little "ba bam!" HAHA
First of all welcome to the DDC!
Secondly, I wouldn't take too much offense to ppl saying you aren't showing yet. In their minds they probably think they are giving you a compliment. I know it's frustrating to hear though. Just wait til later in pregnancy, when you gear things like,
"Oh my god your huge."
"Are you sure there's not two in there?"
"you're STILL pregnant?"
"You're ONLY 34 weeks? You look ready to pop"
I'm a FTM and i'm really showing already, but i have absolutely NO torso. I'm super short waisted and there's no place for my guts to go but out! So i'm getting the opposite comments from you - most people are convinced i'm having twins. No matter how fit i was prepregnancy and during pregnancy i'm just gigantic.
It's just different from person to person depending on body types and genetics.
Welcome!! Don't worry about your bump! It will show up! With my first I think I was 24 weeks before I needed maternity clothes and wasn't showing at all when I had my 20 week scan.
I'm also due with my first on Jan 13th and I totally don't look pregnant some days. Some days I just look fat. It depends on how you are carrying and also just the fact that it is your first. I wanted to have a bump at 7 weeks and while I look more pregnant now, most of the time it really is just bloat or I am fuller looking at the end of the day after eating and stuff. My belly really goes up and down, but it is super normal. Our muscles are not as relaxed because we haven't had children before so it takes longer to show. Don't worry, I think we are right around the corner for consistent showing!
Also, I think sometimes people don't know what to say to pregnant women and don't realize that being told that you look tiny...well this is the one time you don't want to hear it!
Welcome to the DDC!!! Dont worry about the bump not popping yet. With my #1 it was well after 20 wks when people noticed I was showing and even at 40 wks (when I was HUGE in my opinion) i was only in xs maternity tops. With this baby ive already popped out lol. It really just depends on your body type, the babies position, ect. Like other ladies have said soon people will be saying things like "wow youre only having 1 baby"
I just look fat...lol I noticed if you wear those maternity bottoms that have the whole panel that covers your belly and then wear a fitted or maternity shirt over that...it totally accentuates your belly IFFF that's what you want! Right now I'm trying to hide it until its really really obvious and I can wear straight maternity all the time.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb...I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made...My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together...Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139: 13-16
If this is your first, you simply may not show for a while. I'm very tall, but very short-waisted, have big babies, and this is my 3rd. Someone told me 2 days ago, "Hey, my wife is due very soon, too!" "Oh...I have a way to go." "Well, not THAT long. She only has a couple of weeks, too. I guess it seems like forever when they get that big, huh?" Trying to control my laughter, "I'm not due until January..." The look on his face...
Enjoy it while you can, I'm 16 weeks 1 day. I woke up this morning even after using the potty by belly was still there. Yesterday my fiancee and I kept staring like ok is that the belly now? Or do you have to poop lol # all belly now, time for maternity clothes shopping
Thanks everyone, very encouraging. i'm not too fond of the idea of not seeing my feet already. x) I think personally I'm in the inbetween right now, where i can't tell if i'm just fat / bloated or actually pregnant. haha
I measured 16 centimeters yesterday! so he says i have a 'little anchor.'
When I was pregnant with my 1st I didn't start showing for the longest time! I have a picture from 22wks and I don't look pregnant at all!!! People would say the same thing, and I took it as a compliment because I was afraid of being huge lol. Then when I did get pretty big I heard the "Are you sure your not having two" thing and that hurt my feelings. With this one, I am only 17wks and *I* think I look huge! I'm slightly embarrassed to tell ppl how far along I am when they ask because I feel they're gonna be like "OMG she is HUGE!" But, it's all worth it in the end
