Ok, so my husband's cousin and his wife deliver a beautiful healthy baby boy last night!!!

Their labor story is a little nuts!!

She woke up yesterday morning with bleeding, called her OB and her OB told her to go to the hospital (she was 37.5 weeks). She actually drove herself to the hospital. They said she was in labor and was going to have the baby. She then contacted everybody. By 6pm the dr told her that her contractions and dialtion had stopped so they sent her home to rest. She went to sleep and woke up at 10pm to use the bathroom. She started having severe lower back pain every 3 minutes. She called the dr back and he told her to come back to the hospital.

Her hospital is a little out of the way and her contractions were getting closer and stronger. She was screaming in the car cause the BABY WAS COMING!! Her husband had to drive 100 mph on the highway to get there. They finally arrive to the hospital...no time for an epidural and the baby was born in less than 15 minutes!!!!! OMG!!

Wow, that is crazy. I want to labor as long as possible at home this time before going to the hospital, but the fear of having the baby at home or in the car scares the snot out of me since I won't have a midwife.

Wow, thats a story for the movies! FWIW, my mom almost gave birth to me in the car too.
I think my DH would love a legit reason to race 100mph to the hospital My labor progressed slowly though, I labored at home for a while before leisurely making the drive to the hospital. We even stopped at starbucks on the way... and I went in to get DH's coffee!!!!
Congrats on the newest addition to your family!

Geez, definitely a good one! I was surprised with the bleeding and heavy contractions she would have been sent home. Glad she made it back and baby was fine

LOL, if she had stopped at Walmart for a cheeseburger and some last minute baby things that would haveben my birth story with ODD. She was almost a Walmart baby

Holy cow! I'm glad she and baby are okay, but that must have been intense.

(I've heard a few near misses and someone said my hospital has a high parking lot delivery rate... where do you get that statistic, anyway? Between that story and yours, I've decided that if they send me home, I'm just going to go down to the cafeteria and wander around for a few hours... just in case, you know?)
