I had my 24 week appt today. I'm coming down with a cold and have very low appetite, so all I had to eat for lunch was some pumpkin bread that looked amazing at the store. BAD idea! I did my pee strip and it immediately turned all the way dark at the midwives' office! As in, all the way to the highest sugar reading. I freaked out but they laughed and said it was just the pumpkin bread and that they've found that there's really no connection between sugar in the urine and gestational diabetes, and not to eat nothing but pumpkin bread before an appt again
I learned that the hard way too! I ate a pack of gumdrops right before an appt once, and had to explain that to the nurse who tried to calmly peek in during the last part of my appointment. LOL. never again.
