Many of us were born in the days before women had ultrasounds to determine if they were having a boy or girl. Do you know what your name would have been if you had been a boy? Were there any other girl names your parents considered for you?
I was going to be named Christopher. After mom had me, my Aunt liked that name and used it for her son. So when my brother arrived 4 years later they had to choose a different one: Nicholas. If he was a girl he would have been named Carly. Oddly enough, 14 years later, my other Aunt named her daughter Carly. My mom thinks of good names
my parents used to tell people that boy or girl, they were naming me zeke mowatt, who at the time was tight end for the ny giants.
honestly though, if i were a boy, they were going to use the name michael. the other girls' name my parents considered was marissa... but they vetoed because they were worried that people would think i was trying to say "melissa" and that i had a lisp. so they went with katelyn. ick.
my husband's father KNEW they were having a boy. he chose the name steffan, and wouldnt take no for an answer... he told my mother-in-law that she could name the baby if it was a girl. he then PAINTED THE ROOM BLUE and started referring to the unborn baby as "steff." my MIL still says that if my husband had ended up being a girl, she would have just picked stephanie because she'd gotten so used to it.

My mom lost her brother at a young age (I think he was 29) and she was a mess and said she needed something to take care of so her and my dad decided to have another baby. If I was a boy I would have been Billy in honor of my lost uncle. I was almost Billie Jean! Instead they named me Jennifer Lee.
