So I am currently waiting for the hour to be up for the Glucose Test and wanted to take a moment to put mommies at ease like myself who were dreading it. While not lovely, it's really not that bad. I picked the Fruit Punch flavor to drink and it just tastes like super sugary Kool Aid Fruit Punch. Not something you want to drink again and again, but not vomit inducing. Plus, I was already hungry and it actually helped curb my hunger during the wait.

I know everyone's experience is different but I was so worried about how gross it would be and if it would make me Sick and miserable and it really wasn't bad at all. Just make sure you bring a good book for the wait!

24 week update later! Happy Tuesday ladies!

Yay! See, I tried telling some people when this topic came up last time...its really not that bad I got the orange flavor and I described the taste at the time as a melted orange freezepop / orange flat soda lol. My biggest issue was drinking that amount down in the 5 minutes...I am a huge drink nurser and I sip over hours haha.

I've never thought it was as bad as some seem to make it out to be. I guess it's differnt for everyone, but I agree for me it's a piece of cake.

I had mine last Friday and was told if I didn't hear anything by Monday evening I passed. So I guess I passed! So happy because I wouldn't want to do the 3 hour one just because of the amount of time it takes.

Hope you pass too Meredith!

I didn't think the drink itself was bad last time, but the sugar crash that came later... yeah, that got me. I wonder if my office has fruit punch flavor, I had orange last time...

I was worried about that and brought an apple to eat when I was done to get some sugar and food in me!

I wasn't given a choice of flavor. Mine was white like sprite.

I hear ya, When I had mine done last year my arms looked black and blue and I wanted to barf from all the blood they were taking. Not to scare anyone ( I have little veins so it takes a lot of digging to get a good vein).

Yeah. The one-hour one is cake, but the three hour is not fun, IMHO. Usually, you do the one hour test and if you fail that, you do the 3 hour. Wth my first, though, they jumped right to the three hour. That was fun.

I always get lightheaded because of the sugar rush and then crash after drinking the drink. I hate that feeling! I don't have to drink the glucola if I don't want to (my midwife lets me do so many ounces of apple juice instead - same sugar levels, I guess), so that' a plus!

Glad it went so well for you! Can't wait to hear how you passed with flying colors!

Word of advice if you have to do the 3 hour....if you start feeling woozy and think you might get sick tell someone. When I did it again they let me lay down in a room to help me. They came in hourly and drew blood from there.

I didnt get a choice on flavor...they just handed me orange lol. But the good thing about my DR is that they gave it to me to bring home. So on Oct 8th I drink it at home/on the way to the dr, then when I get there they take my blood and Im done. So no waiting!

Yeah I don't think it's all that horrible, I just can't do it on an empty stomach. But that's just me and my weird stomach, I have no idea why I'm like that. Even when I'm not pregnant I can't drink anything, not even water, on an empty stomach or I get nauseated and feel terrible. Now that I can eat something I feel better about it, BUT I am still SUPER worried about passing it. I always worry and get crazy nervous over it.

Glad its going smoothly for you.
When I was pregnant with DD, a few BTDT mommy friends told me how HORRIBLE the glucose test was. Honestly, I didnt mind it at all. The orange drink wasnt something I'd want seconds of, lol. But it wasnt horrible. Waiting the hour wasnt bad either- there were plenty of magazines in the waiting room that kept me busy.

Mommy confession: I'm actually looking forward to taking the test this time around, because DD won't come with me and I'll get a nice quiet hour to read magazines with no interuptions

It's never been bad for me either. I've had the test done 5 or 6 times (when I was really heavy I was tested once in the 1st trimester and again in the 3rd) and never had any other flavor than orange! I'm guessing I'll get orange this time too. I think mine won't be until 28 weeks-ish this pregnancy (which will be the longest I've ever gone w/out it!)

Is everyone else doing a 1 hour? I have a 2 hour glucose test that I am planning on taking this Saturday morning. It is the 26 week 2 hour test. I think with my first dd I did the 1 hour sprite flavored one and it wasn't bad at all. This time my friend told me I will have to be there for 2 hours with a pager and they will do 2 blood draws ( she had the same test done about 6 months ago at the same hospital). I was told that the 1 our test was no longer common, and that the standard is the 2 hour test now?
