Do you use a baby monitor? If so, what type........the ones with video or just audio?
Is their a particular brand and model that you recommend?
With my other 2 pregnancies we lived in a one floor garden apartment so we didn't need one......now we are in a 3 floor house. I think we need a monitor............let me know what you ladies use.....Thanks!!

We have a Philips Avent digital audio monitor ("w/ DECT"). There are a lot of kids in our neighborhood, so I wanted the digital because I'd rather have interference from wifi or microwaves than worry about crossing signals with a neighbor's analog monitor.
It goes a long time on one charge, has a great range, and is very clear. Sometimes... in the middle of the night... much too clear. I paid less than $100 on Amazon for it, and if I had to get another one so far I'd just get the same one.
I have one from Target not really a good one, I think I will get a video one this time bc the boys will share room and I need to keep an eye on my DS who is a climber @ 13 months only God knows what he'll be doing in Jan.
Video monitors are great! Once they get a bit bigger you can see if they are actually awake and fussing or just fussing in their sleep and will go back to sleep on their own. It really saves going in the room and disturbing them too. Even for my son who is almost 5, I can see what he's doing and if he's doing something he isn't supposed to be doing.
I registered for one with DD but never used it. Our last house was all one floor so I could pretty much hear her at all times.
Now we are in a multi-level home so I may end up using it with the new baby. I don't use it with DD in this house but we'll see, it might help out with the new baby. I know I wont be able to hear her when I'm in the kitchen.
This is the one thing that dh is super excited about so I told him he can pick it out all on his own. So Im pretty sure he will end up getting the high tech one with the camera that you can move remotely from your phone etc. I think Samsung makes it . We havent gotten it yet but it definately will be a video one.
