Ok, keep in mind my last baby was 7 years ago.......

Do you swaddle with receiving blankets (that what I did) or do you find all these "new" swaddlers that are on the market easier and more comfortable for baby?

I never got the hand of swaddling, but I think I'll ask the nurse to show me again with a regular blanket.

I just used receiving type blankets. This time a friend has given me one of the special swaddling blankets, we'll see how I like it I guess. I just know blankets get dirty easily and I really don't want to buy a ton of the swaddlers so I'm guessing I'll mostly stick with receiving blankets.

My friend who is acting as my shopping/registering consultant because I don't know what I'm doing, said that regular blankets (I like the aden and anais 44" muslin blankets for the feel of it as well as the fact that they come in just plain white) would be fine. But that's also her knowing me. I don't think you wouldn't use a more constructed swaddler if you got one.

I preferred the velcro swaddling blankets, my son could wiggle out of any other swaddle, even if it was tight. And he would ONLY sleep when swaddled for the first 4-5 months. I asked for a few for my shower, and was handed down a few so I think we had 5-6, which was plenty for spit up and poo blowouts and washing. We didn't ahve any of the muslin swaddlers, so I'm not sure how those would have worked for us.

I used the velcro ones. Kept her nice and snug and she couldn't get out!

I think it's funny people say a mom can never use too many receiving blankets. We never once used one!

I will be using both. I have a few swaddlers, but find blankets just as easy. I have some of the 44 inch muslin blankets I will be using.

I've just always used a lightweight blanket. Hoping to get a coupe muslin blankets. I've heard great things about the Woombie and Miracle Blankets, though I've never tried one.

I can use a regular blanket and I'm asking my mom for some muslin swaddle blankets this time around just to have them on hand Having said that, I am a real fan of the Miracle Blanket and have used with babies 2, 3, 4, and 5 It works very well. I'm sure I'll use it with this baby too.

i prefer just basic receiving blankets to special swaddle blankets. I like how simple they are and DS (who was a HUGE wiggle worm) could never get out of my swaddles so i never had that problem. I will be going with basic receiving blankets again.
