I met a neighbor of mine for the first time tonight. We are going to be planning some bi-monthly church youth activities together and we really hit it off. We were talking about kids and she asked where I was having this baby. I told her, "Here. I'm having my second home birth."

Oh, well, THAT opened a can of worms. We spent 20 minutes talking about our church stuff and then over an hour talking about labor and childbirth. She was really curious about our home birth experience and had lots of questions. Just before she left, I realized how crazy I must sound, going on and on about giving birth to a woman I just met.

I laughed and apologized for being so passionate and talking her ear off. And even though she assured me she was fascinated and might have more questions for me later, I feel like SUCH a dork!

No I love it. It's something your passionate about, never shut up! I love hearing your birth stories even if home birth isn't my cuppa tea because you are such a good story teller.

Plus if she wanted to stop the conversation she could have found a way!

If it makes you feel any better, I was a National Speech and Debater in college and man you get me started on that convo and it's on! Talk about nerdy!

You are not a dork. It is very interesting and if you do not know a lot about it, makes you more curious. I am sure she appreciated all of your knowledge.
