ok not sure how to describe this but I have a pain in my lower back, its actually to the right of my spine if you are right between my hips. so level with my hips and spine and just to right of spine. Anyway this area hurts! And sometimes it spreads to my right hip thight area. When I'm on my feet more it hurts more and its hurts more when I put weight on my right leg. The only relief is if you put pressure there. DH pressed down with his palm last night and it relieves the pain while he is doing it. He started rubbing and said it doesn't "feel right".

Any thoughts? Is this normal? I will ask the Dr on when I go for my 28 week appt Tuesday but I'm a little scared. I hurt my tailbone during childbirth with DD, all healed up but I'm terrified of something being wrong and ending up with a c-section. I do not want a c section at all!!!

Like around the sciatica nerve? Does it shoot down your leg?

I'm not sure about sciatica. no experience with that. I wouldn't say it shoots down my leg but it radiates on the right side. Does that makes sense?

I would say sciatica for sure. But I'm no doctor, so absolutely ask, but that what it sounds like to me. I know it can take on different feelings in different people. I just started experiencing this myself this morning, ironically, but on my left side/butt/back.

Karin- does it feel like a knot in your lower back?

And if it it is sciatica what does that mean? Any treatment or is it just a pregnancy pain to deal with? I had a hard time going to the grocery this week because half way through it started hurting so bad.

It feels sort of like a knot that also has radiating pain. I'm not sure what is done about it during pregnancy though...I know my mom had it bad for much of her adult life, but it was unrelated to pregnancy, and I honestly can't remember what they did to treat it! I know it's fairly common in pregnancy, though, so hopefully our doctors will have some answers!

I have pain in that area but I don't know if it's what you are describing or not. It feels hip-related to me, but it shoots all over the place. Sometimes it does make it extremely difficult to walk. Whatever it is, I've had it with all of mine and it seems to disappear right after I give birth. It can make turning over in bed really difficult too.

I think that's sacroiliac pain. I've had it, and it's common on the right side because the uterus actually tilts over to that side. Mine got better lately - I think he moved or something.

There is nothing about that that would cause a c-sec

I had a weird almost crippling pain in the back of my right leg almost at the butt cheek line. I've also had some low back pains, my sister and good friend are both physical therapists so I always call them.

For the lower back, get on all fours, take a breath and arch your back up like a cat and rock back slightly on your knees. This is actually a yoga pose and it really makes my lower back feel better and stretches it comfortably.

For the pain in the back of my right thigh I was told to sit in a regular kitchen chair (kind of on the edge), cross your right leg on your left leg like a man would sit (so right ankle on the left knee). Sit up straight and push down on your right knee. This stretches the back of the hip really well.

Oh...I also have kind of a dull nagging pain in the front of my left upper thigh (in the crease of my leg) and my PT friend said to lay on the edge of your bed and let the leg that's bothering you hang off the side. This will stretch the front of the thigh.

Hope that helps!
