I had a ton of baby mittens and we never used them. I just kept his nails short and every once in awhile we would use socks The baby mittens are harder to get on than a sock for some reason and they are mostly super thin cotton whereas a sock was warmer.

I used socks. They stay on so much better and you save money!!

They come in handy, I used in beginning a lot. Socks help as well and those sleepers that go over hand as well.
