I noticed lots of us have gotten swabbed over the last week. I am seeing that several of us have even been swabbed despite the fact that we are being forced into a repeat c-section. Anybody have any insight on this trend?

I would assume the swab is only necessary for those who get to have a vaginal delivery....idk....

If your water should break before or during your c-section, and you have GBS, they would need to start antibiotics. I think that that's the reason behind it.

Hehehehehehehe I said "behind".

I'm a first timer, but it makes sense to me. I know some people are doing VBAC or trying to or if you went into labor beforehand and could deliver naturally they would want to know so that they can give you the proper meds for you and your baby. That's at least how my doc explained it

I initially thought I would be getting a swab, but I will get prophylactic antibiotics during my c-section, and they cover GBS.

I am having a c-section no matter what and they are swabbing me for GBS next week and said in case my water breaks before....but I am getting prophylactic antibiotics anyway during and after the surgery so why bother, right? Doesn't make any sense to me!

Seems like these doctors just like putting us through unnecessary uncomfortable tests to me...

Did y'all actually feel the swab? Cause I didn't .... Just sayin. Wonder if that is because I am not a FTM.

Some doctors stick it up there and thankfully mine just touches it with the swab real quick. Thats probably why you didn't notice..lol
