Despite my attempts to not overindulge my body has seemed to be latching onto every calorie I eat! It's so frustrating...I'm about 36 weeks right now and have gained about 36-38 pounds already
I'm very fearful that in these last 4 to 5 weeks I'm gaining to pack on some serious weight as recently I seem to be gaining 2 pounds a week. For BTDT moms how much weight did you gain during the last 4 weeks? How much weight did you lose in the first week or two following birth? Were you able to drop all your pregnancy weight? If so, HOW did you do it? I'm planning on breastfeeding so I hope that will help a little bit. I recently packed away all my spring and summer clothes and if for no other reason, I would really really like to fit into those for late spring/summer otherwise I will have to buy a whole new wardrobe which isn't in my budget at this time.
I don't remember packing on lots of pounds at the very end. I think my late second trimester-early third trimester was my biggest gaining time. I gained about 30 something lbs last time and I lost all of my baby weight within the first year... Probably sooner, I didn't pay too much attention.
No real exercising besides my active life running around and chasing kids.... I think Breastfeeding really helped me lose weight. My thighs got smaller than they had been since high school. I just always think that the arm flab, and love handles I gain in pregnancy literally are storage areas for calories I will be passing along to my baby while Breastfeeding.

I gained a crazy amount of weight with my first DD. (60 lbs! ) But, ice cream and I were very good friends, and I didn't have anyone giving me healthy advice. I don't know how much of that was gained in the last 4 weeks, though.
I lost about 20 lbs before I left the hospital because I had so much swelling. After that, I can't say how long it took to lose weight. It took me a long time to get down to pre-baby weight, but I've always struggled with my weight. As soon as I got to that point, I gained some back.
I'm honestly not stressing TOO much about it this time. I've gained about 29 lbs this time around. 20 of that is since starting my 3rd tri and starting modified bed rest. I lost about 50-60 lbs 3 years ago on my own, so I know I can do it, and I already have some desire to start working on it when baby gets here.
Try not to worry too much. If you're being careful in your food decisions, and you're still gaining, then obviously your body wants that weight to help nourish your baby. It's all for good cause! And I'm SURE breastfeeding will help you out.
I gained 34lbs with my first and 38lbs with my second. I had only gained around 8-10lbs at 20 weeks with both of them so I gained almost all of my weight at the end. I am doing the exact same thing this time. I was at my pre-pregnancy weight with both of my previous pregnancies within 4 months and able to wear my regular clothes at 8 weeks when I returned to work....tight, but could get them on and function.
I did not do a single thing outside of breastfeed.
Everyone's body responds differently to pregnancy and I wouldn't worry about this at all right now. Try to eat right and get the calories you need. You can see how the weight comes off and worry about that later. Pregnancy is a time to be joyful and healthy.
I gained probably 50 lbs with my first, and lost most of it eventually, probably within 9 months though I wasn't paying attention. Breastfed and ate decently, didn't have/make time to work out. Probably gained 1-2 lbs/week in last weeks, but that's normal.
Gaining 36lbs by the point you're at is completely and totally normal!
