So, depending on your religion of course........

When are you having your LO's Baptism/Christening?

Are you planning a party or just a smal family gathering?

Have you started the preperation yet?

We just booked Sophia's Baptism yesterday. She will be Baptised on April 7th and then we will have a party in a private party room in this small restaurant. It's actually a bar/pizzeria but they rent out a really nice party room above the place and it's really nice and affordable. You feel like your in a completely different restaurant. We will be apart from the restaurant however, the restaurant will do the catering (their food is amazing). It will be buffet style, they supply everything except the cake! So no stress for us!! I am so excited!! We will have hopefully around 35-40 people including kids. The best part is that my 14 yeard old daughter is going the be the godmother

Had it the Sunday after she was born. Our families live out of town and all of them came so we had about 35 people here at the house after church. I invited a few close friends as well, but mostly just family.

Still giving it thought. My folks want us to do it sooner and here, where I live and they would travel for it. I want to do it in my hometown with a priest who is very special in my life, but that would t be until July. That's what I am pushing for. If it goes that way, it will be a medium sized gathering at church, probably about 20 people then either lunch at my parents house after or at their country club.

We keep saying we need to start planning it, but haven't yet. However, I'm sure it'll be pretty much the same as my other kids- at home, just family. It'll probably be mid-March.

We are having our son dedicated, but we haven't set the date. I spoke to the Pastor one week ago about it; there have been 3 babies born in the church within the same month and he was considering having everyone there on the same day for the dedications. Personally, I would rather doing it sooner as opposed to later. I guess we'll have to wait and see when everyone is available to show up on Sunday and set the date that way with the Pastor. If the other two parents aren't available with their babies...oh well!

End of May/Beginning of June. Other friends with 2012 babies pushed off their baptisms waiting for our LO to be born and get settled (we're godparents for both), so I'm waiting until after their baptisms. We'll pick a date shortly.

I don't want to do a big party thing, but it seems like if people come, the least we could do is serve a light lunch. We'll probably do that at our house afterwards. I have absolutely no idea how many people would travel for it, so it could be anywhere from 10 to 50 people. Oy vey. Maybe our house is not a good idea?

One dilemma I'm having is how to politely note that people should not feel obligated to write checks? We don't think you should get a "prize" for being baptized, and we'd like to downplay that possibility. Any suggestions? Does that just sound ungrateful?

I agree with you on the checks but I am sure people will do it anyway.......
