I have a question...so Annabella was born early at 36w3d and weighed 6lb 10oz. The lowest she got was 6lb 3oz. On feb 7 when she was 2 days shy of being 3 weeks old she weighed 7lb 8oz at the doctor. Well today I brought her back to the doctor for a weight check...I didn't get to see the doctor. But she now weighs 9lbs 4oz almost 2 weeks later. She will be 5 weeks tomorrow. Is 2lbs in 2 weeks too much to gain? I bottle feed her and she eats really well...4pz every 3 hours or so. Sometimes she just takes 3 or 3.5 oz still. We just moved up giving her 4 oz a few days ago. I'm a first time mom and don't want to be over feeding her if I am. :/ the nurse didnt say anything to me and I'm guessing she didn't know her weight before unless she just looked at it. She has a regular doc appt checkup on march 8 so ill ask then too. But what is your thoughts? Has anyone else's LO gained so much so fast and is bottle fed? (I'm wondering if since she was a preemie she might be trying to catch up????) thanks ladies!
I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think babies are greedy or trying to eat more than they can stomach at this point. Your baby night just be in a growth spurt which happens every two weeks or so at this point. If she is spitting up a lot every feeding than maybe she is taking more in than she should but I wouldn't worry about it! Vivi takes almost 4oz every 2 hours except at night where she gets almost 4.5 before bed for a longer sleep stretch. All babies are different but I wouldn't worry! Weight gain is a good thing! Bring up with your dr though if you feel unsure at your next apt though
Also, does your DR's have a digital scale or a regular old fashion one. Because my dr has the old fashion type where you have to slide the bar across, well every scale in his office gives you a different weight. One day I went in there and he weighed 7lbs 11 ounces, then 2 days later I went to a different office with a digital scale and they said he weighed 7 lbs 4 ounces so I panicked because we thought he lost all that weight in 2 days, then I went back into my regular dr the next morning and it said he weighed 7 lbs 13 ounces lol.
As long as she isnt down, I wouldnt worry.
