Ember goes down for the night between 11 and 1230. She sleeps until 8/830 then is up or maybe an hour and sleeps until 1030 or 11. She is up and alert from 7-11 PM with no signs of being sleepy. We start her bedtime bath and feeding and book, but she just wants to be cuddled and played with. She isn't fussy, unless we swaddle her and try to put her down. Putting her down btw 11-1230 is usually not a problem though.

Is this normal? Should I be trying to get her down earlier? Any tips on getting her tired earlier? She usually doesn't nap past 5 and we stop playing around 8 and try to be boring, but she just kind of chills out and hangs. I don't mind her schedule now, but when I go back to work, I won't get to sleep until 8 ish and neither will she. I'm just afraid she will think sleep time is from 11-11 instead of 8-7.

I've thought about keeping ours up later, since he'll sleep 7 or 8 hours (which is awesome!), but when I put him down at about 8 or 9, that still means we're up at 4 or 5... which I guess isn't the worst thing.

When I started getting him into a bedtime routine, that worked well both to get him used to the earlier bed time and to sleeping in a longer stretch. We do a bath, some baby lotion, a book, a bottle, then I sing him to sleep in the glider. It works most nights.

Maybe if you start a half hour earlier each night and get her used to a slightly earlier bed time, she'll eventually adjust?

^^ I agree

Maybe start adjusting her bed time little by little. I really don't know how we got Vivi into her schedule, but I do know that we do bath time every other night around 7pm, we try to get her into her jammies around 8pm and have her last feeding around 9ish and just keep it really mellow and calm until bedtime between 9:45-10:15. She almost goes down without fail during that time and stays alseep till 4am although lately she's been going to almost 7am, which I am digging!

Try moving it up little by little and see what happens. Even if she is awake, but chill, she might still go down in her crib and put herself to sleep. It's not a bad habit for kids to get used to, putting themselves to sleep. Some nights Vivi is still pretty much awake, but mellow when we put her down in her crib, lights off, quiet, and she eventually drifts off to sleep although sometimes we do need to go in, hold her a bit more, and then put her down again.

Let us know how it goes!

I would agree that slowly adjusting the routine will help with the sleeping pattern

We are in the same boat - Baxter doesn't go down easily at all. He is fine napping in our arms or sleeping on our chest, but as for bed, that doesn't happen before midnight usually. We have tried everything, including slowly adjusting, but it's not happening just yet. We've tried baths, reading, mellow time, nursing, bottles, music, singing, white noise, you name it. He's just a night owl! Problem is, he's also up at the crack of dawn!

One of these days...

I think I have a night owl too! I did manage to get Ember down at 1030 tonight. I think it's just because she took shorter naps today, not sure why, but she got down at 1030. Lets hope she stays asleep and does t wake up at 1230 wanting to party

Do your babies really sleep through the night? I would love is dex slept from 11-7am! Right now he goes down between 8-10pm wakes up 2-4 times a night and is up for the day between 6:30-8am.

Yeah, Ember will sleep 6-8 hours, but lately she is pretty consistent with 8 hour stretches. She slept 1030-645.

Juliana likes to sleep from 11 to 11 too. Sometimes she wakes up at 1 and always wakes up at 4 and then every 2-3 hours after that. I'm so jealous of these mamas with great sleepers!

Sooo jealous! I haven't had more than a 4 hour stretch of sleep in months. And even a 4 hour stretch is very rare for me. Maybe once a week

This is about how we are too. I'm tired!
