I just remembered a bit of my birth story that I only learned after the fact:
DH gathered very little information about pregnancy/birth the whole time I was pregnant. So when I was told I needed an emergency c-section, I told my doctor that I would like a VBAC (you know, so that he would do the c-section with the greatest chance of me being able to have a VBAC in the future) Well, DH asked me what a VBAC was right before I was wheeled into surgery and I told him vaginal birth after c-section. He got a concerned look on his face, but I was going into surgery so I didn't think about it. Well, a few days after birth I asked him if he was scared when I was going in for a c-section. He said, "Yes. I couldn't understand why you would want a VBAC. I thought that cutting you open and then pushing the baby out your vagina was a horrible idea!"
Ahhhhh!! yeah, no kidding! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Poor guy. Serves him right for not learning anything before hand! But now he knows that VBAC refers to the next pregnancy.
