I think this topic may have come up once already, but which of you are following either a modified or non-vaccination schedule. I am not one to stick to the schedule recommended, but with so much Pertussis out there I get worried. What have you been doing? What precautions do you follow? Do you have school aged children also? Just curious!
We are not vaxing for the foreseeable future. At some point we will when he is older. Of course, today I am very stressed about this decision since he's at the ER for his toe and I'm terrified someone with pertussis will be there. Ugh.
I just wanted to add a little more now that the excitement of yesterday has died down, lol.
Anyway, I do have school aged children but we homeschool so that really isn't an issue. We don't take any extra precautions, but we aren't really around a lot of risky areas either. For example, we used to talk about wanting to live on a sailboat, and we always knew if we ever did that with our kids, they would have to be vaxed for certain things because of the traffic coming into ports from other countries, and because we would have been doing some traveling ourselves.
If we lived in an area with a lot of pertussis, I would be more worried, but I still probably wouldn't vax for it. Reason being, that is one of the least effective of all vaccines and, I don't know about the current version, but I know the older versions used to be some of the worst offenders as far as vaccine injuries.
