Ok yeah I have that crazy MIL that thought I was having twins because the ultrasound had a yolk sac and the baby... yeah Now that Gabriel is here she hasn't gotten any better... She keeps asking us if we have given him water yet and she says to mix corn syrup and water in a bottle and that he needs water. She is also trying to get us to put cereal in his bottle. Saying he will sleep better at night... No that's crazy because my baby does sleep at night. He sleeps a good 8 hours straight. Another issue is the nick name they have for him.... They call him Cricket... I HATE IT. It would be different if they called him little angel or Gabe or even Ducky (I wanted my baby shower theme to be duckys but I never got that far lol) But seriously Cricket.... They just started calling him that and they never even asked us what we would prefer. UGH...
My mom is also hounding me to put cereal in Quinn's bottle. She laughs at my FTM syndrome and say by baby #2 I will surely be feeding cereal at 2 months. maybe I will do things differently then, but right now I have a happy healthy baby who also sleeps all night long....leave us alone people!!!
When my MIL visited she was show DH how to make the nipples larger and so the cereal/formula can make it through. OH HELL NO! I voiced my opinion loud and proud and she didn't "offer" any more advice. I feel like this is OUR child so we'll raise him and care for him how we choose. If we need help we'll ask. And I agree with you, those first couple of weeks are hard and an adjustment but our babies should all be on the path of decent sleeping by now.
