I need so help ladies!!

So I have a mesh bumper for Shelby's crib. My issue is we have solid sides that we cant put the bumpers on. Shelby is scooting in her sleep and bumping her head on the solid sides. I think she is to the point she keeps doing it that she is starting to get a lil bruise. Do I say screw it and rig a regular bumper? If I do that, then there is a gap between the side of the crib and bumper. Or do you know of any alternatives?

Here is a pic of it.
