So I was just wondering if anyone had any VBAC stories they'd like to share. I don't know much about it but I know I'd like to do it with #2.

I'd be interested to hear, too. Suggestions, special circumstances, any advice would be good to hear.

Stopping in from the 2013 Feb Playroom. I had a VBAC with #2. Honestly, it was easy since my doctors were on my side. I was in a practice with multiple doctors but the 2 I saw the most were so encouraging. I did have to go on BP meds (the midwife asked me to since I was pre eclamptic to "buy me more time" so none of the other doctors would try to push me into another csection). Of course my body likes to go into labor early so I had that going for me. At 37 weeks my water broke and 3 hours later I had my baby in my arms. <3 No pain meds because they did not believe how far along I was until they checked me and I was dialated to an 8 (went from a 3 - an 8 in hour). I would say if you have a supportive doctor go for it!! You can do it!

Do you have a local ICAN chapter where you live? I have had 2 VBAC's, one in the hospital, one homebirth. My recoveries were amazing compared with my cesarean recovery. I am now the chapter leader of ICAN of Huntsville where I live.

Here's first: A Long Hospital VBAC: A Learning Experience

Second: The Birth of Julia Pearl Barker | ICAN of Huntsville's Blog

I highly recommend finding a good doula.

Here is a good site with a lot of research, statistics, evidence based suggestions, and VBAC myth debunking. 13 Myths About VBAC « VBAC Facts

you can always email me at icanofhuntsville@yahoo.com if you have anymore questions.

I've been thinking about this a lot. My C-Section was partially elective partially because they thought she was getting too big. Honestly, it was my first and I was scared out of my mind and although I was induced and went through some "labor", eventually the pitocin stopped creating contractions and I ended up with a C section. I don't regret it, but the recovery was a lot harder than I expected. Not that I couldn't do it again and although I do fear vaginal birth because I don't know what it would be like, it sounds like such a better alternative. I just hear the recovery is a lot better and I just don't know if I want to deal with another major surgery. That's what I feel like people forget, it's not just "having a baby" it's a surgery and a big one. When we decide if and when to try for #2 I am going to talk to my OB about it. I don't really see why I would need a C Section if everything is going smoothly with my pregnancy and the baby isn't in distress.
