We're skipping cereals, so I'm feeling like we might be stuck with messier options - soft banana, cooked pear, etc. We haven't started with them yet. Still just purees and we're using one of those mesh net things for a chunk of banana or an out-turned prune.
Hi..I'm from the feb. Playroom but sense it went empty I figured I check in here now and then. I plan on doing easy finger foods like well cooked black beans, brown rice, mashed bananas..things she can easily pinch with her fingers. I also got her some plain yogurt and cereal. When she gets older we will add to that.. Things like toast strips, waffle strips, Noodles, and other random things with different textures.
Finger foods have been one of the most stressful things for me to figure out for MK. She completely skipped cereal and pretty much skipped baby food in general. She does not want to be fed, she wants to feed herself. She will be 9 months on Sunday and I'm terrified to tell her pedi at her 9 mo c/u how little she is eating. :\.....for the past month or so I have been experimenting with finger foods but I am scared to death of her choking. However, I know she needs to learn so I'm getting better! She loves the baby mum-mums that can be found at Target or BRU. They are little rice cakes that you can buy organic or in different flavors. I have also been buying frozen veggies and giving them to her steamed. I found some waffle cut carrots that have worked really well. I also have been buying frozen fruit such as peaches, bananas, and mangos. I give them to her still frozen so she can chew on them a little bit. She LOVES the fruit! Sometimes I will put the frozen fruit in her mesh food holders also. My MIL cooked a roast a few weeks ago and it was PERFECT for MK! The potatoes and carrots were soo soft as well as the roast. That was the first time she actually had a well proportioned meal! This is my experience.....I would love some more feedback from moms who have already gone through this. Being that i'm a FTM, this new world of food is really overwhelming!
