It's officially flu season here in Texas!! I opted out of getting Any of our flu vaccines this year. We have Molly on an alternate vaccine schedule so I really didn't want her getting any extra vaccines during her first year. Although, now that it's the holidays and we are about to be around lots of family I'm getting super nervous. Did you guys decide to go ahead and give your little ones the flu vaccine? If so, what has been your experience with it?
We went with the recommended vaccine schedule through our Pedii and had just given our LO the flu shot and booster that was needed. I haven't noticed anything strange. I am always super nervous about getting sick this time of year. All the shopping around the malls and coming into contact with various people ...there's always a greater chance for getting a cold or flu. I hate being sick ad wouldn't want my little one to be exposed if he doesn't have to be.
We have done all the normal shots including the flu shot. Her first set ever, she got a fever, but that's it.
However, we have seen at least 10 cases of the flu (confirmed with in-office testing) in the past 2 working days at my office. And the majority of these people had flu shots this year. So, the strain that seems to be hitting isn't even covered in the shot.
