I've seen a few threads about birthday parties, but not a generic one.

What is everyone doing for birthday's this year? Are you planning yet?

I had no intentions of doing a big party or starting to plan this early. Hayden's bday is 2 weeks before I'm due, so I was going to just have a small family party at my parent's (everyone lives closer to them) BUT my mom wanted him to have his party at City Park where there's a miniature train you can rent. She said she'd pay for it and I told her the only way I'd do it was if she planned it b/c I'm not going to feel like it by then. So she had me look at it online the other day and its $300 for 1 1/2 hours!!! I think that's ridiculous since all you get is a train ride and tables LOL but I know Hayden will love it ... its a 2 1/2 mile train ride through City Park and its only for the party guests. It can only be done when the park is closed, though, so the party has to be at 9:30 in the morning. Since its so expensive, I'm going to tell my mom I'll take care of the cake and food. So we're going with a train theme and will keep things as simple as possible :-)

i don't know about themes yet but we'll likely just have it here at the house. i think this is the last year i can get away with him not caring where it's at, so hopefully we'll save a little money there.

i'm thinking about going to party city one of these days and trying to decide on which theme....i'm thinking like bob the builder or see if i can find toy story stuff...

We have been thinking of doing his party at Chuck E Cheese's, but I'm still not possitive. We are doing a "kid's party" this year (only inviting his "friends") And at 3 he doesn't have a bunch of them, so it shouldn't be too expensive. And then we will have the family over for cake one night, so they don't have to sit through all the kiddy stuff.

For Allison we will be doing a big party with all family and friends since it's her 1st. We are thinking of doing it at the park. I'm just hoping it isn't still 100 degrees here the last weekend in August

We're having a Mad Hatter Tea Party. It's going to be fairly small and here at the house. Just our friends that have kids around Madeleine's age. Probably only 4 or 5 children total, plus their parents and our parents. We may do the bouncer thing like we did last year. She really loved that. Other than that, I'm just going to put up a white tent thing in the backyard and hang some lanterns from it. Set the table with mismatched plates and tea cups, etc. I may buy a kiddie croquet (sp?) set. Put up a few fake rose bushes. Lots of balloons. Little cupcakes and things with Eat Me or Drink me on it. So, still fairly involved, but having so few guests will make it not nearly as time consuming (or expensive) as last year's party was.

We're planning on this indoor inflatible bounce place a couple towns away. We want to do a private party, since we'll have little ones, but it will be a pretty penny. Of course, it will be significantly less than I spent on Cooper's first birthday, but after that one, I need a break. I don't know about the theme yet... I'm going to see what he's into before I make that decision... I was thinking Cars, since he still loves that, but he's also starting to get into Bob the Builder and Diego, so who knows... I just want to write a check and sit back and enjoy this one... maybe I can actually get enough pics to have a good birthday scrapbook spread.
