Davey is so heavy for me to carry! I am thinking of moving him up to a convertable carseat and getting a light stroller for the trunk, (I use the pouch alot too since I don't even have a stroller ATM). I am almost sad to do it as it means he is growing up , but sheesh I can barely carry him, it's so awkward carrying the seat and he's heavy. Add a diaper bag and my purse and I look like a weirdo, my purse and the diaper bag falling from my shoulder to my arm and such.
Has anyon made the switch? I was browsing car seats on the WM website and they all look neat, but my car is small so I can't get one of those JUMBO deluxe fancy seats. I need one rather compact but still convertable. I am going to look at WM later, but wanted some opinions.
jax is still in his infant car seat, but we have a double stroller, so we put both boys in it when we go shopping. unless we are at the grocery store or sams. we get two carts and put jax and his car seat in one and jacob in the other.
Julius has another 2 inches until he is too tall so that is when I will switch him out, likely in March. I hate the infant seat, the only thing I like is that with his cover we don't need a winter coat. Addison was a summer baby and I had to put him in a warm snowsuit and then strap him in a convertible seat, it wasn't fun.
I'm probably going to switch after I am sure AVA can hold her head and neck up pretty good and control her sitting posture a little more.. She is only 3 months though.. and already getting VERY heavy.....

I just this week bought a convertable car seat and new lightweight stroller for Brandon (babystyle.com was having a sale!). I probably won't switch it over until he can sit up with assistance a little better. I hate taking that carrier around now that he's getting so heavy. Maybe in a month or two we'll switch over.
I won't switch him until his is big enough to fit into Elles so probably not for a couple months. Elle's converts into a booster so I will just buy her a new booster and he can use that.
I find it a pain to move them out of their carrier when they cannot sit well on their own yet. I had to quit using it for my second when she was only 4 mo old, and it was a hassle, it's so handy for them to nap in their chair when you're out, and not have to move them when they're sleeping.
The way Julia is growing lately (she gained a pound in 2 weeks) we'll be in a car seat before you know it, but it will be a while yet.
The thing is, I barely keep him in his seat anyway, I HATE carrying it. I usually take him out and put him in the pouch anyway. As long as it's a reclining convertable seat it should be ok right? We probably won't have the money for it for a month or so anyway.
we made the switch about a week ago ariana was just too heavy to carry in that thing plus her legs were squished so we bought the britax decathlon its spendy but goes up to 65lbs so she'll be in it for a while. I love it definatly worth the money has many cool features like when u put the lap belt in the car seat to install it theres clasps that go down and the car seat does not budge at all plus you can loosen the straps to get your baby in then tighten them right back up by just this little strap hard to explain but very cool
I really have to switch. Alayna is getting too long, she's very uncomfortable because it's tight, and she tries to get out of it! She's pretty smart and tries to find ways to get her arms back through the straps to get loose!! Plus as everyone else said, SHES HEAVY!!! I just don't have the money for it right now. What ever money I do have, I have to save up.
Spencer got his "big boy" carseat for christmas from my parents. It isn't recomended until he weighs 20 pounds (but he can use it until he is 100 pounds!!!)...and his infant seat will hold him until 22 pounds. He only weighs 13 now so we have at least a couple of months to go before we have to switch him over. Probably when he is about 6 months old we will switch. His came from wal-mart and is a Safety 1 brand. Don't know the exact model, but it is gray and black and has a cup holder and snack cup on one side, and little arm rests. It can be used with the 5 point harness while he is still pretty small, or just with a seatbelt as a booster when he gets bigger. Nothing real expensive, but we like it.
Im not going to change car seats until hes between 18-20 pounds. I just worry that if I change him when hes to small he may just not be ready for the big car seat. I know its a pain to carry car seat, diaper bag, and purse, but i would rather be safe and not change him till hes ready.
I have always thought that the carrier types are easier to use if the baby cant sit on his own. That way he has something to sit in wherever you go. Then once he can sit on his own its much easier to carry him around out of the carrier
I hadn't even thought about this. I haven't noticed Grace feeling too heavy yet, so I guess we won't change for a while.

Probably not for awhile - not only b/c Julia's barely 7lbs lol But I find it convienient to just grab the car seat and go, especially since she usually falls asleep in it! I hate waking her up in the middle of a nap, she's so cranky! lol
I think I'm going to try and switch over at six months if I can wait that long. Paid too much for this one not to use it every single second possible. lol
I was thinking the same thing because my son is so heavy but some one told me that my 3 month almost 4 months old son in a week was to young and that I would get a ticket
Remember, they aren't forward facing until at least one year and 20 lbs. Most infant seats are rated up to 20 lbs or 22 lbs (depending on the brand) and 26 inches, then they are to still be rear facing until 1 year and 20 lbs.
