Since we moved to NC, DH's car got repo'd and I got way behind on my car payments, like 6 or 7 months. I've been behind since I was 2 months pregnant and we weren't able to pay things off. Now we only have $347.00 to full catch up on car payments and we won't have to look out the window every day worrying about whether the car will be there or not. We should be caught up by the end of this month, then it'll be back to my old regular car payments, not trying to scrape up 2 payments at once to catch up.
Life is so much better up here!
Just had to get it out.

That is such a relief. I had the repo man come once, not a good experience. I know you're happy.

NC was cheap in some aspects, but the pay is also cheaper. It all evens out somewhow. Except they get you on things like they tax food (not prepared food) and their tax is 7%!

Holy COW! I used to think MA was bad! Around here they call MA Taxachusettes because NH has no tax and MA is on the border of NH with 5% tax. But MA doesn't tax clothes or food, which NC did.

Good for you, Kelly. I'm a goodie goodie and always make more than my minimum payment on everything so I can pay it off faster. If I can't afford to make a little more than the minimum, then I can't afford it in my opinion. I just paid my car off in Sept in under 3 yrs and had a 4 yr note on it. We are working on DH's car now!

That is great Kelly! You must feel very relieved. Since I have got my new job I am working on paying off our debt, most of which we incurred when we bought this house!

I never used to pay MORE than the minimum, but I always made my payments ON TIME because I was trying to build up my credit! Then we moved to NC and it all went downhill from there. Once we pay this last remainder, we'll be caught up until January 20th! Then I can just mail in the payments again!

Congratulations! I can definitely relate with financial hardships. We are having some right now. Kevin was promised a promotion that he apparantly got, but they aren't paying him anymore than he was making before he got it. He's looking for another job, because the people he works for now lie and we cannot live on what he's making now. It's embarrassing because I still have all of my bills go to my parents house because I have moved from apartment to apartment and it's just easier to have important things sent there rather than get a change of address, so the overdraft notices go to my parents house and they say things to me about it and it's hard. I think either next month or the month after we will be moving in with Kevin's parents for awhile so we can get a savings going. Anyway, I'm glad things are looking up for you guys and hopefully we will be in the same boat soon!

I just opened a savings account at INGdirect.com - it's strictly online. I have them automatically take out a dollar a week (for now) I opened it with $5.00, there's no minimum and you earn 3.80 anual interest. It just links to your nomral checking account.
