Well Nicole has been pushing herself backwards when on her tummy to get around. It's kinda funny 'cause she'll bump into things with her butt!

Anyway, I just don't think her arms are strong enough yet to support her body... She also has really flexible arms (she's just really flexible all over) and I'm not sure if that's making it harder for her???? I can pull her arms back and touch her palms together with her arms out straight... it's crazy.

Also when she sits up she can lay down flat on her chest between her legs... is this normal for babies??? My nephew isn't this flexible...

Babies are pretty flexible... but I don't know about that flexible! Its so cute when they go backwards! Brinlee did that for a while too. I'm not in the medical field but it would make since that it could be part of the reason her arms aren't strong enough to support her body. I have a family friend whose daughter is going through therapy because her muscle tone is very low. She just turned a year old and up until she was about 9 or 10 months old she couldn't sit up on her own, let alone push up on her arms. It seems to be helping a lot. I know they showed her some exercises she could do at home with Morgan that are "fun" and more like playing instead of work!

I think she's right on target. I think some babies just wait a little bit to do things. I think she might be more flexible than some, but babies in general are pretty bendy. LOL. My sister's baby is 12 months next week and he doesn't pull himself up. He's not behind or anything, just won't be walking by 1 obviously, but babies go at their own pace we all know. So I think she'll be moving right along before you know it. And a lot of them will start out going backwards, I think sometimes it's just easier that way!

BTW, I don't want anyone thinking I was implying anything! Its not like that at all! I was just telling a situation of someone else. I'm always worried about people taking things the wrong way! I don't think Nicole is behind on anything... like posted above, all babies do stuff at a different pace. And you never know... Nicole could just up and walk in the next couple of weeks!

Evan will at times, lay down on his chest/legs like you said. The crawling back stuff is cool. I just about given up on Evan actually crawling, he just military crawls. I think babies just get around in whatever way they find best.

yeah, i guess what bothers me is that nicole is so long for her age (everyone thinks she's over a year old already) and she has no teeth, doesn't crawl and doesn't pull up! it doesn't bother me... i'm just always explaining that she's only 8 months !

Liv does this all the time and lays her head on the bed or on her taggie blanket. It's so funny.

Yeah, well back to the old, every baby is different. I have worried about Evan, tried to get him to crawl "normally". To no avail. He doesn't get himself into a sitting position, and until recently he made no attempt to pull himself up, not that he has actually accomplished it, well not unless I am holding his hands.

Layla just army crawls too. And gets on her knees. But I have to put her in a sitting position, she's tried and failed a few times by herself, lol. She will pull up on someone if they're on the floor with her but hasn't tried with any furniture, etc. yet.

Olivia doesn't crawl forward.... she goes backwards... and on tile... she can boogie... She can go from laying down to sitting up. But she is also in daycare and they work alot on pulling up with holding teachers hands and they have all sorts of stuff that lets them teach themselves. LIke the bookcases are secured to the wall and they have the push things... I am going to have to take a picture of her room... you guys will flip out at how cool things are in there.

WOW... she is flexible... She probably just taking her time. Like everyone said they do things at their speed and some babies are too eager to do more and more... that was Christopher and Carissa is taking her time.

As much as we want them to do these things it is nice when they dont... LOL

So anyways... I am sure when she is ready she is going to be like See ya mom! he he he
