I feel kind of bad for her, but if there was an inkling that she could not perform she should not have taken the slot. The article I read said that the girl to take her place might not make it out there because of our snowstorm (I guess she is from the NY area).

They did say that she was completely recovered though, and that this was an injury from practice, and I do feel bad, but she has had quite a career....and I think she recently had a baby. I don't "do" sports, so I am sure for a sports person this whole thing must be devestating....

I got teary eyed when I saw her in her press conference. It's so sad. These athletes work so hard to go to the Olympics. It must be so devestating when something like this happens. She's had a great career! Emily Hughes, Michelle's alternate, is flying out today or tomorrow I think. She has until next Tues. to get ready. She was on the Today show today. She is the sister of Sarah Hughes (gold med) from 2004.

** Kristi Yamaguchi is the skater who just had baby #2.

I really like Michelle Kwan... she has had a great career, but I just think it is not her time anymore. Don't get me wrong, she is a great skater and I'm so sad to see her go. They offered her a spot in the reporters booth (I think they used a different name for it but the same thing) but she passed it up because she didn't want to become a distraction for the rest of the USA team. That must be so hard!

Oh yeah, did you see Apolo Anton Ohno's race last night? I found out before it was televised as to what happened, thanks AOL for having it pop up on my screen first thing when I signed on LOL, but just watching it... waiting for his slip up to happen made me sick to my stomach! If it wouldn't have happened at 2 laps to go I think it would have been a different story... but you can't change it! He has 3 more races to get gold though so I guess thats always a bright side.
