I think I told you Ben's physical therapy eval put him at between 3 and 3.5 for his gross motor skills, right? Well he had his occupational therapy eval last week. I got the report today, and his fine motor skills were assessed at 2 years 4 mos! I honestly didn't expect that. I thought they'd also be about 3.5. Oh well. At least he's getting help from someone who has a clue what to do. I've tried and tried to teach him to write, but he's just not getting it. I thought it was me. It's not.

He's supposed to do PT and OT every week, but our insurance only gives us 60 per year, so he alternates them.

Wow!! I bet you are eager to get him started in OT. It will be tough, but so worth it.

Ben is such an brilliant little guy. He was too busy learning so much to be bothered with things like gross motor.

I will bet Nicole is right--I have heard that kids focus on one aspect of early growth at a time. I wonder if that is why he is behind in his gross motor skills. Are you getting ideas from the therapists of things that you can do with him at home to push him along in this area? Does he have an awareness that he needs to work on these skills?
