Do you still go out with your five year old when they play or do you allow them to go outside alone?

Do you have a fence that keeps them contained?

Can you still see them from inside?

She's played out in the backyard by herself before. Usually she just blows bubbles. It's privacy fenced and I have a huge window that I can sit and watch her from.

I wish I had a fence! Our back yard backs up to the neighbors back yards though, and I can see them so I let them go out by themselves. If they are out for an extended period of time though I'll usually go out and do yardwork or something.

Yes - our backyard is fenced in. There are windows all along the part of the house that faces the backyard, so I can pretty much see her where ever she is from the LR couch. When it's warmer I usually stay out with her, but like the other day - she just wanted to play with the meager snow that we got, on the deck. I had no intention of sitting in the cold, so out she went lol

No fence, but I sit at the door and watch them play. There's nowhere for me to go out there since I don't have snow pants lol so I stay in. They know they have to stay right by the door and I'm always watching. I WISH I had a fence. I'd let them out there if I did.

Nope, I wish we had a fenced in yard but we don't. Even though our yard is set back from the road, it's close enough to make me nervous about them being out there alone.

I'll occasionally run in for 2 seconds to pee or grab my camera or something, but I always stay out there with them.

I let Madeleine into the backyard by herself, but not the front. If Sam is out there, I always go out, too. The only problem I've run into is that Madeleine can now open the child proof locks on the gates, so sometimes she tries to sneak to the front yard and play. I have to keep a close eye on her.

The front yard is off-limits for Jules, even the porch. It's not a busy street most of the time, but at rush hour everyone uses it to get to their houses, plus there's no sidewalk. Luckily, *I* can't even get the fence open in the backyard, so I doubt Julia can LOL

It's almost easier if I go out with her, though, because when I stay inside she knocks on the back door every 2 minutes asking about something.

No - we live on a really busy street with little to no yard and no fence at all. I always go out with them. If I had a house with a fenced yard and I could see them, I would let them.

Yep...we have a privacy fence that has padlocks on it, so the gate can not be opened from inside or out. So the kids are allowed to go outback anytime they want. There are also windows all across the back of the house, so I can see them from just about any room I'm in. AND I usually let the dogs out if the kids are out, so they would go crazy if anyone came anywhere near our fence. If the weather permits I also leave our back door to our screened in porch open so I can hear what is going on outside as well.

I only let him go out if Haley's out there to play with him, but not alone. I rarely go out to play with them in the winter because I don't have any snow pants.

We don't have a fence but our back yard backs up to the woods, so they are allowed to go out in the back by themselves. All the neighbor kids play back there too, we're a bunch of rows of townhouses on my street.
