Ady's first day was yesterday. (It was also her birthday!) She had a good day but doesn't want to go back the second day! DH and I decided we would give the school a try and then homeschool her later if we decide we need to. The teacher seemed okay, but I am not thrilled. And she asked me to not come in to the class on the first day (which I did anyway) and I just don't think Ady is going to be challenged. Some friends keep asking me to have her switched to another class, but it is not JUST the teacher that concerns me. And I do sub there so if I make too many people mad, they won't call me. Here is a blog that I started that explains my thoughts...

A Fun, Intelluctual Life

She looks so cute and happy! I can't believe they said that about parents not walking them to class!!!! I didn't walk Samantha but that was because we took her to before care instead. We walking about what to do, drop her off there or take her to class, but I wanted her to be used to it. I also knew I would bawl my eyes out if I walked her to class! I know other parents did though. She saw her friend two house down walking in with her dad. I'm glad you're giving it a chance though before you make any decisions.

Thanks Jaidynsmum for my beautiful siggy!

So cute! I would have walked into the class anyway too. Who doesn't want to take a picture on the first day?

BTW, I really love those seat sack things!

I think you made a good decision. You can very easily take her out. I too loved reading your blog posts. Much different perspective than what I'm used to 'round these parts. (which is like your school parents-just drop the kid off, run away and enjoy your day w/o them) KUP on what's going on!

Happy Late Birthday to Ady!

First, your in WI right? I thought we have a limit to 18 children per class? I don't have a child in public school, nor would I ever want too. We tried a summer school program here and I was also "labeled." During the program (which was 3 hours in the morning for 3 weeks) nothing she brought home was impressive instead she told me one of the little boys pulled down his pants and sat on another little boys lap. And I WAS NOT TOLD? I addressed the teacher in charge and she assured me that my daughter didn't see anything. Which she says otherwise. She will never go back!

I agree with your blog about lack of teaching or challenge in our school system. Thank you for starting you blog. I plan to follow it and GOOD LUCK!
