We have a coat closet in the living room that we have an over the door set of coat hooks in. It gets overloaded with coats and jackets (DH and I are obsessed with having all different jackets apparently) and sometimes I have a hard time closing it.

I was thinking of putting another one mounted to the wall in the hallway upstairs and the maybe a 3rd in the kids room.

How many coat rack/hooks do you have? Do you have a purse hook anywhere? What about key hooks?

We have a standing coat rack by our entranceway and it's always getting overloaded. It seems like I'm constantly taking coats and sweaters off of there and hanging them back up in the hall closet, because no one else does.
Mark also just throws his coats/sweater on the backs of the kitchen chairs most of the time.

No purse or key hooks, they just get thrown on the kitchen counter.

No purse or key hooks. I only use one purse at a time....I change them seasonally, so its not as if I'd have several purses around. But a key hook would be a good idea.

We have 2 coat closets on the main floor. And I bought one of those....standing, rolling...things that you can hang stuff on for my laundry room?? I use it for wet, winter clothes. I hate it. I REALLY wish I had a mud room or a bigger laundry room because there is no good place to put 7 pairs of boots and all the kids gloves, snowpants, coats, etc. Booo.

When closets get overrun...I usually take the stuff out thats out of season...and hang them in the person's individual closets. I just hung a bunch of hoodies up in the boys room since we're now down to fur-lined hoodie weather.

I think I am going to go ahead and get the other coats racks. DH would never remember to put his jacket on a hanger, lol.

I do have a key hook and I love having one. We bought one shortly before we moved from Salem and we wondered why we never got one before! lol!

And I never have a place to put my purse, I used to hang it on the pantry door in NH, so down here I have a hook for it in the coat closet. I only use one at a time too, my other purses are upstairs in my bedroom closet.

We have two each. It seems adequate for all the snow suits and jackets and things we have!!

I bought and painted this last summer. We keep spencer's school back pack, soccer back pack, allie's ballet backpack, the 2 babysitting kid's diaper bags, and all the kid's jackets on there! I'm amazed at how much this thing can hold!!!

I have a set of coat hooks when you first come in the door. And we don't have a downstairs closet. At ALL. Stupid design flaw that I didn't notice before moving in. Ours is always overloaded.

One thing I've found for the purses you're not currently using (if you store them in your closet) is to hang them from shower curtain hooks on the closet rod. They fit over the bar perfectly and don't take up as much room as a regular hanger. Then you can use that shelf space for more shoes and things. We had an old set left over from our last house so I use those.

Oh, we don't have a key hook, though I want one. Or a bowl or something. My keys always get thrown onto the kitchen island.

My dad built these locker type things for my kids, so that's where all their stuff goes. We have coat hooks for dh and my coats (the ones we wear the most) and a closet for the other ones.
